Diablo IV is the latest entry in Blizzard’s beloved Diablo franchise, filled with monsters, demons, and horror in the open world of Sanctuary. The game has been highly anticipated since its announcement, and fans want to know what they can expect to return from previous Diablo favorites in the newest title and what’s brand new. Will the Paladin class be available in Diablo IV? That’s what we’re here to let you know.
Is the Paladin class in Diablo 4?
No, the Paladin is not a playable class in Diablo IV at launch. Instead, there are five different classes to choose from:
- Rogue
- Necromancer
- Sorcerer
- Barbarian
- Druid
As seen above, none of these are the Paladin. If you are looking to play as a Tank class in Diablo IV, your best bet is going to the Barbarian, although this class is not particularly armored. This leaves a bit of a hole in the roster, and many fans were hoping to see its return.
The Paladin class hasn’t been in the Diablo series since Diablo II, where it was incredibly popular. The class was sort of replaced with the Crusader class in Diablo III in the expansion Reaper of Souls, where it filled the armored tank role, as well.
In short, there is no righteous, armored knight to play as in Diablo IV’s roster. Diablo IV is a dark game, and many fans would like to be the holy light that shines in the hellish world of Sanctuary that takes on the daughter of Mephisto, the hateful Lilith. Unfortunately, if you were hoping for this story angle for your character, you won’t find it. Sorcerer (or Sorceress) might be your only shot, and even then is nothing like the Paladin class in terms of play style.
Although future expansions could introduce more classes, there is no information on this and with the games release, only the five classes above will be available.
