Diablo 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, if not the decade. This game is so highly sought after that even with limited early access, the servers could not handle the number of players going through.

Only players who have access, which is mostly limited to those who purchased the ultimate edition, can enter the servers at this point. So it’s strange for us to see that the servers weren’t ready for the outpouring of supportive players.

However, it seems like the old errors of server overloads have haunted the early access users.

Diablo 4 Server already at capacity

Doing a “server slam” during the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom did not help Blizzard as much as we’d hoped. Players on PS5 are already experiencing the dreaded “unable to find valid license” error. This error comes on when a server is Below is a Reddit post that has already gotten many comments and upvotes with players agreeing that they’re hit too.

This error definitely means the game was unable to verify that you purchased, but it normally happens when too many users are online at once, so it doesn’t have time or space to verify yours. When the betas happened, this was only a problem in the beginning, and each beta was able to handle a bigger playercount.

It’s no secret that many players couldn’t wait the few days it would take to play Diablo 4 with a standard edition. The Ultimate edition is only $30 more than the standard edition, meaning it would only cost half a game more to enter the server a few days early.

To many players, including us, this seems like a reasonable thing to pre-order the Ultimate Edition if you’re that into the game.

Blizzard most likely didn’t expect this many people in the early access, or maybe they’re waiting to turn on more servers for the main game. What we know is that this error is an issue.

There aren’t really many other ways to get into the early access period short of being given a key by the developer. So we know that those promos have been working out if players already have longer queue times and the inability to access the game yet.

Looking at the Diablo Reddit, you can find many players talking about the end of Diablo 3 and what it meant to them, so it’s easy to see why Diablo 4 would bring in so much of the player base at a higher asking cost.
