That Squad Fill button in Call of Duty DMZ is more important than you realize. If you didn’t know that Ground War allowed multiple players, you’re not alone because players have started to speak out about the confusion around this.

Call of Duty DMZ forces players to be Rambo in Ground War and Invasion

If you’ve turned off that Squad Fill button to play other game modes in Warzone 2, it will affect every game mode until you turn it back on. No one tells you this, so it’s easy not to know. Reddit user u/AtlasNotFat made a post on Reddit calling out this issue and informed other players to double-check.

If you enter Call of Duty Warzone 2 and go to Ground War or Invasion, make sure you have your Squad Fill button on. If you set it off and forget to turn it on, it will leave you alone in these modes.

This leaves you as a one-operator army like Rambo but without the training or experience in most cases. So players have been taking the difficulty curve alongside being alone for these modes, making things incredibly hard.

Taking a handicap, like going solo in a mode meant for friends, is something you do when you believe you’re prepared. Players have been rushing in not even realizing they’re making things harder on themselves.

Many of the comments call out the developers for not letting them know in-game. User u/KimiNoNaWa19 said, “[I] didn’t actually know Ground War had squads until this post. I’ve been playing solo this whole time,” which means this user inadvertently got far better at the game than they would have from just playing solo.

Other comments pointed out that this had been a known issue for a while. One commenter said they reported it back during the first season. It would appear that this isn’t a bug, but more of a design oversight.

Developers may not think it’s worth fixing but there are a good deal of players who are confused by this, so it may be worth looking into.
