Dragonflight is the new WoW expansion, and it’s almost here, so we’ve got our healer tier list to help you decide how to spec your new healer character.

The wide variety of specializations in WoW makes it tough to know exactly what direction to chase if you want to help your party as much as possible.

Read on to learn which specializations work best for your healer role.

Dragonflight Healer Tier List

WoW Dragonflight Healer Specialization

When it comes to healers in WoW, Dragonflight has completely upended the old tier lists. Part of the reason for this is a new class, Evokers, is not only the first new ranged-DPS class in the game since launch but also double in the healer role.

This has changed things somewhat, but there are no surprises for guessing how high the new class can end up on the list.

We’ve listed each of the best specializations below and given our reasons for why we put them where they’ve gone on the list.

S+ Rank – Preservation Evoker

It might take you a while to get used to some of the class’s abilities, but the Preservation Evoker is incredibly powerful when it comes to resurrecting and healing your allies, and isn’t too much of a slouch at defending themselves either.

You also have an insane amount of options for healing and can aid the party in combat when your healing isn’t required. Win-win. Just bear in mind, these new ’empowerment’ type spells require you to hold down the shortcut, and you’ll need to do that to get the most out of this class.

S Rank – Restoration Druid

This probably won’t be a shock to anyone who’s been playing WoW for a while now, but the second-best healer in Dragonflight is the Restoration Druid. This beast of a class was often the butt of jokes back in the day due to being seen as OP in almost every role.

With the restoration specialization, the Druid becomes a very tanky healer. They can survive quite well and dish out heals basically on-demand. The bigger drawbacks here come from the need to hit cooldowns and the complete lack of real damage when compared to the Preservation Evoker.

A Rank – Holy Paladin

The Paladin class tends to be better at buffs and defense rather than out-and-out healing, but if used correctly, they can still be a decent choice to fill the healer role in your group. Specifically, the Holy Paladin is a great choice for any dungeons in which you’ve struggled to keep your healer alive.

Just like most Paladins, the Holy Paladin is very hard to kill. Unlike most healers, they’re liable to be the last member of your party standing. That said, they do suffer from reduced mobility, which is one hell of a factor when it comes to being in the right place to keep your party alive.

B Rank – Restoration Shaman

Among healers, Restoration Shamans have the most potential for versatility. They can handle most situations you care to throw at them when it comes to healing, but they also tend to suffer a bit in almost every other area.

Don’t expect them to contribute to your DPS on raids, but they do have the potential to keep you alive and fighting a lot longer. They can spec for extra mid-combat resurrections, making them great for a party with a glass canon strategy.

C Rank – Holy Priest

While the Holy Priest still suffers from the above issues with mobility, they do have fantastic utility in healing a bunch of players at once. The problem is that getting everyone into an ideal position to actually use their best spells can be tricky.

On the plus side, Holy Priests often have the most utility when it comes to odd damage types or strange situations that need dealing with. As long as you play them like a toolkit, applying each ability just right, they’re certainly a viable class to use even in mythic+ dungeons.

D Rank – Mistweaver Monk

The Mistweaver Monk sometimes gets a bit of a bad rep when it comes to these lists. They’re a melee-range-attack-focused healing class, and they do their best work while actually dealing damage to enemies.

That said, don’t count out monks just yet. They have great healing powers already, and there are a bunch of new tweaks that will give you even more options. The biggest drawback is that this specialization has probably the steepest learning curve on the list.

E Rank – Discipline Priest

There are probably people out there horrified by the Discipline Priest’s low position on the list, but hear me out on this. The Discipline Preist has absolutely terrible survivability, combined with poor movement options, and you’ve got a disaster sitting int eh path of your enemy waiting to happen.

While the Discipline Priest can actually be decent when it comes to dealing damage that heals your party, there is a huge drawback. You have to stay real close to your enemies to do damage, and with your poor survivability, you’re going to need more healing than you’re providing for others.

Other Options for Healing

If you’re playing the game on your own, you’ll have to look for alternative healing options. A great class to choose for this is the Warlock class. Not only can these guys summon various demonic entities to help soak up some of the aggro, but they also have strong healing abilities that rely on siphoning the life from your enemies.

Warlocks can also heal their demon buddies, so you can basically function like a one-person party. Just remember, these classes can be risky to run, and you also have to contend with multi-player quests completely off your own back.
