The next WoW expansion, Dragonflight, is already available for lucky players who were able to pre purchase, but a plague of missing weapons appears to be affecting players in the new starting area.

It can be quite disconcerting to suddenly find that your character’s weapon is completely missing for no reason.

Read on to discover what this bug is and, more importantly, what you can do about it.

WoW Dragonflight Missing Weapons Explained

Dragonflight missing weapons staff
Your weapons are likely still there, just hidden by your majestic set of wings.

If you’ve been playing the awesome new Class/Race combo, then you’ll be chilling in The Forbidden Reach. You’ll also probably have noticed that equipping weapons to your character doesn’t always make them show up.

If you have a staff equipped, it won’t appear anywhere on your character model. To fix this, tap ‘Z’ to unsheathe your weapon, and your character should pull it out of the negative space on their back.

The reason behind this “bug” is to do with the way the new character race is designed.

While sheathed, weapons are supposed to show up on your back, however, since the Dracthyr have wings, the weapon doesn’t show up. It’s not really a bug so much as it is a natural part of who these new characters are.

Do Missing Weapons Affect Combat?

Luckily, it appears that the missing weapons in Dragonflight are purely cosmetic. Having your staff sheathed won’t affect your spells and abilities, and if you elect for straight-up melee, your character will probably pull their staff out for you.

You should also still be benefiting from any increased stats that the weapon gives you even while it’s sheathed. For instance, if you gain haste from your weapon, you should still keep gaining it while the weapon is on your back, even if it’s invisible.

So, it’s still worth equipping a staff or other weapon to your Dracthyr Evoker to benefit from the boost to your other stats and abilities.

That said, it’s somewhat disappointing that Blizzard didn’t make it possible for your weapon to be seen in some way. Then again, Blizzard has often struggled with the artistic side of sheathing certain weapons.

WoW Dragonflight Missing Weapons FAQs

What will Dragonflight be about?

While we want to avoid story spoilers, we can say that the new expansion focuses on the Dracthyr, a race of dragon-like humanoids who are newly available for this expansion.

What armor class is evoker?

Evoker’s can only use Mail Armor, probably due to the class being tied to the Draconic Dracthyr.
