Spirit Summoning is one of the key ways in which you can turn the tables on your foes in Elden Ring. Once you unlock this powerful ability, you will start to feel a little less outnumbered in the Lands Between. But before you can call spectral allies to your side, you first need to acquire Spirit Ashes. We’re here to walk you through how Spirit Ashes work, how to get them and how to make them stronger in Elden ring.

What are Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

Spirit Ashes are important items in the world of Elden Ring. Once found, they can be used to call spectral foes and NPCs to fight alongside you. But only when certain specific conditions are met. This can be particularly useful when feeling overwhelmed by a boss or other powerful encounter.

Each Spirit Ash in Elden Ring corresponds to a specific summon. Their placement is not randomly generated, but deliberate. Soon, we will have guides available to point you towards the most useful Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring!

How to get Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

Much like with Ashes of War, Spirit Ashes are scattered throughout the world of Elden Ring. They can be found in chests throughout the Lands Between. They are also received as rewards after defeating specific powerful enemies and bosses.

How to use Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

Spirit Ashes must be equipped in quick items, much like you would a consumable, and then used in order to activate. Spirit summons cannot be used for free, however. Activating a summon chews through a good amount of your FP bar.

You must use Spirit Ashes sparingly if you want to get the most use out of them. Though they are a powerful tool, their usage is limited to prevent you from steamrolling through the Lands Between, back by an army of ghosts Aragorn-style.

Upgrading Spirit Ashes

It is possible to make Spirit Ashes stronger than when first acquired. While in Roundtable Hold, you must speak with Hewg, the Blacksmith. If you follow his dialogue concerning the NPC Roderika, Hewg can be persuaded to help set up Roderika with a business in her own right. Soon, Roderika will be available to use as a Sprit Tuner in roundtable hold. The Spirit Tuning option allows you to upgrade your summoned spirits, much as you would weapons. Find Gloveworts out in the world, and by handing them to Roderika – and spending the requisite Runes – you Ashes will be upgraded!
