Some people use weapons in Elden Ring because they’re the most optimal experience for their build. Meanwhile, some people use weapons because they’re really cool-looking and come with really awesome unique weapon skills that you can’t find anywhere else. If that latter one sounds like you, then you might be interested in the Marais Executioner Sword. Not only is this weapon powerful enough to deal some serious damage, but it’s also got a ranged weapon skill that is unlike anything else you’ve probably seen in the game up until that point. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to show you how to get your hands on it easily.

Where is the Marais Executioner sword?

Marais Executioner Sword Map

You’ll have to make your way to the Shaded Castle in the northern section of the Altus Plateau. If you haven’t made it there yet, you can reach it by going to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace and heading north from there. Once you reach it, you’ll have to enter the castle and work your way to the Shaded Castle Inner Gate site of grace. From here, head north and up the ladder to your left, ignoring the enemies you face. Go through the building and across the bridge into another building. Run past the Cleanrot Knight ahead and onto a lift. You’ll be in a wooden corridor with a boss fog at the end. That boss has the sword we’re searching for.

This opponent is tough and hyper-aggressive. If you’re not good at dodging swift moves or you have a magic-only class, then this fight is going to be insanely difficult for you. Your best bet is to use a SPirit Ash summon or even an actual human player if you’re feeling lonely. With him suitably distracted, you can just unleash your most powerful attacks. If you’re going solo, you can get a free hit on him by sneaking around the boss arena. He’ll respond pretty quickly mind, so make sure that whatever attack you’re using is powerful enough to get the job done.

He is susceptible to Scarlet Rot and POison (for some reason) so if you can get off a Rot Breath or two then you can probably just spend most of the fight avoiding him. Just make sure you don’t get too far because he can clear distance really well and has several powerful magic attacks to use against you if you’re not careful. Once he goes down, he’ll drop both the Marais Executioner Sword and the Briar Greatshield as well.

What is the Marais Executioner sword good for?

Marais Executioner Sword Skill

The sword has some medium stat requirements in both Strength and Arcane, making it a good choice for any dragon magic/melee builds who specialize in strength. The weapon skill is insane too, as you throw the sword forward in a corkscrew attack that keeps dealing damage as long as it’s spinning, before following it up with another slash. The Briar Greathshield is also pretty stellar, coming with the Shield Bash weapon skill. It also has a really high blood buildup which makes it a surprisingly powerful addition to any build that uses a shield but still wants to have an offensive option with it.
