When it comes to dungeons, Elden Ring is just full of them. The challenge level of these dungeons can range from a jaunty afternoon stroll to a complete nightmare of epic proportions, so having a little help on your side can do wonders. If you’re wondering how to find the Tombsward Catacombs, and more importantly how to beat them, then you’ve come to the right place. Our Elden Ring Tombsward Catacombs guide will show you exactly what you need to do to master this particular dungeons crawl.

How to Find Tombsward Catacombs

Tombsward Catacombs Map

The Tombsward Catacombs are tucked away in the southern region of Limsgrave known as the Weeping Peninsula. Specifically, they’re right in the center near the Minor Erdtree. If you have it unlocked, you can just head for the Church of Pilgrimage point of grace and then ride south, but if not, enter the region via the bridge of sacrifice and follow the road south. After a moment or two, you’ll have the opportunity to turn almost 180 degrees and follow the road back to the North again, but on a different fork that curves around to the west. Follow this road across a wooden bridge until you see a church.

Once you’re at the church you can just spin around and you should see a Minor Erdtree surrounded by a cliff. Head towards the broken archway in front of that cliff, and you should find the door to the catacombs tucked away just behind the pillar of the broken archway. Head inside and activate the point of grace and the real challenge can begin.

Tombsward Catacombs Holy Laser

Once again the Tombsward Catacombs are filled with living skeletons, so it’s best to bring a holy weapon, an occult weapon, or the Litany of Proper Death incantation to make sure these guys stay down. Holy weapons are probably your best bet, as the dungeon boss also happens to be pretty weak to them as far as we can tell. Either way, get yourself suited up and head down the stairs to find an area locked by a Stonesword Key. You can open it if you want, but watch out for the skeleton inside if you do. Bring it down, then approach the item but don’t pick it up yet. Another skeleton spawns behind you as you approach the item, so kill that too, then pick up the Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook [9].

Head back to the main corridor and continue down some more stairs to find yourself in front of the locked boss room. Turn right to enter a large square chamber, but watch out. On the left of the chamber, a skeleton will start chucking firebombs at you. Take him out, but stay on your guard, as another skeleton will spawn if you enter the right side of the chamber. Once you’ve taken out both skeletons, exit the chamber through the door opposite and head down the stairs.

Skeletons for days

Tombsward Catacombs Fire Trap

This large open chamber will have two skeleton archers spawning under the pillared area ahead. Ignore them for now and duck into the alcove to your right. Another melee skeleton will spawn in this area, but you’re safe from the archers while you take it out. Once you’ve dealt with the solo skeleton, run around the corner and take out the other two. Once they’re down, a fourth skeleton might run out into the room, so make sure you’re ready for him as well.

Enter the next chamber and at the back right corner of the room, another skeleton will spawn for you to chop down. Enter the next area but don’t go around the corner yet. There’s a fire trap waiting for you in the next corridor, so wait for it to finish then quickly sprint halfway down the corridor into an alcove on the right side. A skeleton will spawn here so take it down then wait for another opportunity to sprint into the fire chamber. Quickly duck under the overhand to the right, and take out the skeleton that shows up.

Riding traps

Tombsward Catacombs Lever

Give the trap a smack and it’ll recede to the floor, but not forever. You can run into the other chamber now if you want. You’ll find four skeletons spawning in there, but also some decent loot. If you’re ready to move on, stand next to the trap and wait for it to make a noise, then quickly jump on top of it to ride it to the floor above. If you went to the other chamber first, then a firebomb-chucking skeleton might be waiting for you above, so make sure you’re ready to take them down.

Despite the huge chunk of bones on the ground, there are no skeletons in this square room (assuming you already killed the firebomb guy). Move into the next chamber and run at the skeletal archer, take them out, then spin around and do the same to the melee lad who spawns behind you. Look down the next corridor to see the dungeon boss lever. There are no more skeletons so just run down and activate it. It’s time for the Tombsward Catacombs boss.
