Juventus are back for FIFA 23, Piemonte Calcio are no more. As nice as it is to have Juventus back in the game officially, they are not the same team they were a few years ago.

It’s been two years since Juventus last won the league, after winning it consecutively nine years before that.

Juventus’ steady decline can be factored towards a few things but mainly their poor recruitment on the pitch. The club has been poorly run for a few years now, and the pandemic really highlighted this mismanagement.

Going into FIFA 23, there will be a lot of changes for Juventus’ player ratings as well as large changes to personnel. After finishing fourth last season, some players will be getting a few ratings dropped in the upcoming game, but new signing Vlahovic, among others, still managed to have a good season.

Juventus: Goalkeepers and defenders

cuadrado

Wojciech Szczesny –  86

(-1)Mattia Perin – 79 (-1)

Carlo Pinsoglio – 72 (-)

Leandro Bonucci – 84 (-1)

Daniele Rugani – 76 (-1)

Luca Pellegrini – 75 (+1)

Alex Sandro – 81 (-2)

Danilo – 81 (-)

Juan Cuadrado – 84 (+1)

Mattia De Sciglio – 75 (-1)

It wasn’t a great year for the Juventus back line, going into next season they will need to strengthen, in order to improve. Especially if they want to challenge for the title again.

The loss of Chiellini will be felt throughout the club, while the potential departure of De Ligt means Juventus’ defence could look completely different by the time FIFA 23 comes out.

If De Ligt has now officially left the club. So they will have to find a replacement for him quickly, otherwise they may struggle going into next season. It is however, extremely unlikely that they won’t replace him.

It seems likely a few players will get drops in the defence, even though they didn’t concede many goals. They still only finished 4th in the league.

The bright spark of their defence however, has been Cuadrado. He has been a revelation since switching to right back a couple of seasons ago, and last year he was one of the clubs better players across the season.

Juventus: Midfielders

Pogba

Manuel Locatelli – 82 (-)

Paul Pogba – 85 (-2)

Weston McKennie – 79 (+2)

Adrien Rabiot 80 – (-1)

Juventus’ midfielders also struggled last season, although new movers McKennie and Zakaria were positives when compared to the others.

Arthur’s game time has dropped off quite a bit, he doesn’t look like the same player he was when he arrived from Barcelona.

The most exciting news for a Juventus fan is getting Paul Pogba back on a free, after selling him to Manchester United six years ago.

He arguably played his best football at Juventus, often struggling for consistency over a whole season since being in England, and he will be a welcome addition to Serie A.

He will most likely drop a couple of ratings for FIFA 23, but it may not last long if he can get back to his very best.

Juventus: Forwards

Vlahovic

Dušan Vlahović – 83 (+5)

Arkadiusz Milik – 79 (-2)

Marko Pjaca – 75 (-)

Federico Chiesa – 83 (-)

Ángel Di María – 86 (-1)

Moise Kean – 78 (-1)

Moise Kean struggled in front of goal, despite being given many more first team chances this season.

Chiesa, their talismanic winger, also struggled with injuries throughout the season severely weakening their front line.

The biggest increase we will see in FIFA 23 for Juventus will be Vlahovic, he showed just how good he could be at Juventus in a very short space of time. With a full season with the squad, a few good signings to be put around him and he could be the key to challenging for another title this coming season.

Final thoughts

It may have been two years since Juventus last challenged, but if they strengthen in key areas and build on some of the players they have got, it may not be long until they challenge again.

This year may be a year too soon as other teams are further along in their development, but if Pogba can reclaim his best form and Vlahović is as dangerous in front of goal as he looks, who knows what could happen.

It’s all to play for this coming season and the Serie A title race is certainly one to watch.
