Liverpool have consistently been one of the best teams in the world for the last few years and their squad in FIFA reflects that. Some of the best players in the game can be found in the Liverpool squad, and on FIFA 23 it may get even better.

Liverpool’s 21/22 season was amazing, every single player played their part and they showed the unity they have got as a squad. Liverpool reached the final of every competition they competed in, only missing out on the Champions league. While in the league they pushed eventual champions Manchester City right to the very end.

There are exceptional players all the way through the Liverpool team, and after a season as good as the one they had, upgrades to the squad are incredibly likely.

Liverpool: Goalkeepers and defenders

Van Dijk

Alisson – 90 (+1)

Caoimhin Kelleher – 72 (+5)

Adrián – 73 (-1)

Virgil Van Dijk – 90 (+1)

Ibrahima Konaté – 81 (+3)

Joe Gomez – 82 (-)

Joel Matip – 83 (-)

Andrew Robertson – 87 (-)

Konstantinos Tsimikas 75 (+1)

Trent Alexander-Arnold 88 (+1)

Calvin Ramsey 72 (+9)

Liverpool had the joint best defence in the league last season, only conceding on 26 occasions. Every single player had to play their part across the whole campaign, because of how many minutes the squad played as a whole.

Even a player like Tsimikas, their back-up left back, scored the winner in the FA Cup final, securing himself as part of Liverpool legend. Like with any great team, strong depth and consistency, is what makes up an excellent defence.

It also helps that Liverpool have one of the best shot-stoppers in the world in Alisson, while Van Dijk is also one of the best in his position and his rating in FIFA 23 should reflect that.

New signing Calvin Ramsey should also be set for a big ratings bump in FIFA 23 after a good breakout season at Aberdeen, getting his move to the Champions League finalists.

Liverpool: Midfielders

Fabinho – 87 (+1)

Naby Keita – 80 (-)

Curtis Jones – 75 (+2)

Thiago – 86 (-)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 78 (-)

Jordan Henderson – 84 (-)

James Milner – 79 (-)

Arthur – 81 (-2)

Fabio Carvalho – 70 (+6)

Liverpool’s midfield has some true stand out players. Fabinho is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, he is incredibly versatile and can also hit them from range.

Thiago is the diamond in this midfield, he is exceptional on the ball, has great vision and on FIFA he also boasts 5* skill moves.

The rest of the midfielders at the club ensure the middle of the park has stamina and can press hard; it’s a proper engine room. It’s here where Liverpool could improve, and the area they will most likely strengthen before the end of the transfer window.

James Milner and Jordan Henderson, are incredible professionals and leaders on the pitch, but they aren’t getting any younger. A successor to them both will need to be found sooner rather than later.

Liverpool: Forwards

Luis Díaz – 83 (+3)

Diogo Jota – 84 (+1)

Mohamed Salah – 91 (+2)

Harvey Elliott – 75 (+2)

Darwin Núñez – 82 (+6)

Roberto Firmino – 84 (-1)

Liverpool’s front line last season was one of the best in the world, but going into FIFA 23 they will be without Sadio Mane. Mane was a key part of Liverpool’s success and scored a lot of goals for the club.

To replace him they will be relying more on January signing Luis Díaz, who had an exceptional start to life in Liverpool and looks to fit in already. The other player they will be looking to will be new signing Darwin Núñez.

The Uruguayan forward is a relative unknown, making a name for himself at Benfica last season where he scored an impressive 26 goals in 28 games in the league. Pre-season isn’t normally a lot to go off but so far he has looked inconsistent, it may take the youngster some time to adapt to his new surroundings.

The talisman of this front line however, is still at the club after another amazing season. Mohamed Salah has just signed a new deal, keeping him with the club for the foreseeable future. Going into FIFA 23 he will be one of the must-have players early on and rightfully so.

Final thoughts

Liverpool players are must-haves in the early months of FIFA 23, and after such a good season, many of them would have been boosted from the season before. There are also some exciting new faces at the club which will make for interesting squad building potential, especially if they continue to strengthen.

It looks to be another exciting season for Liverpool fans, the new season is just around the corner and it’s pretty nailed on they will be just as competitive as last season. If Núñez can settle quickly, he could make all the difference.

Be ready to play plenty of Liverpool teams in kick-off and seasons on FIFA 23, because despite losing Mane, they’re still one of the best in the game.
