As we approach the release of the first promo in FIFA 23, we are beginning to get hints we could expect a market crash. This is common when the supply by far outweighs the demand in the game.

With the release of the new promo, and the game finally coming out, we are expecting plenty of people to be buying packs which will flood the market – causing a huge price drop.

Release Day Crash in FIFA 23

The FIFA 23 market has already seen a number of cards go down in price – meaning there are more people trying to sell their cards. While this is not a sign of a crash for certain, it’s an indicator the market is volatile.

A number of YouTubers are already speculating that a crash could well happen – citing both the release of the FIFA 23 Standard Edition, but also the fact that some of the cards are already beginning to fluctuate and reduce in price.

If you go on popular FIFA squad building website Futbin, you will see these price drops are already beginning to take place. Popular Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold has already seen his price slashed by more than 80%. Marcus Rashford, who is one of the most popular players in the game, has also seen big reductions in price, he is now 40% cheaper.

According to the Futbin’s index, the FUT market is now trending down. There are fears the upcoming Ones To Watch promotion could affect things further.

If you’re into your trading, then you could be laughing, as this is the perfect opportunity to pick up players and then flip them for a profit once the market begins to recover.

One to Watch cards focus on the biggest signings of the transfer window. They are dynamic cards that have the potential to upgrade throughout the season based on their performance. Due to the fact they have huge potential, they are sought after by FIFA players and offer far more long-term value than a base card.

They typically update when they receive a performance-based special item, such as Man of the Match or a spot in Team of the Week.

They are also capable of getting ‘Wins to Watch’ upgrades – a one-time boost to their stats, if they’re part of a team that wins three matches out of their next eight domestic league games starting (from Friday 30th September).

Ones to Watch are due to release on September 30 at 18:00 BST, so we’ll need to keep an eye on what happens.

Why does the market crash in FIFA?

The market normally crashes when the supply by far outweighs the demand, this happens when there are good promos on and plenty of people are spending money on the game.

What is a FIFA market crash?

FIFA is home to tons of in-game purchases and trading cards with FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). This means that the game has it’s own marketplace where player cards go up and down in value.

A market crash means that there is a sudden drop in prices as users want to sell off their players before their value decreases even more.
