FIFA had a long reign with EA, a partnership spanning back 30 years since the first release of FIFA International Soccer. FIFA is synonymous with the words football and game, even if you were a massive PES fan, you can’t deny that. EA Sports had already confirmed in September of 2022 that its relationship with FIFA was coming to an end after the release of FIFA 23. But what is happening to FIFA, will there be a FIFA 24 and if so, will it ever be the same again?

If you’re interested in reading more about EA Sports FC 24, be sure to find out when early access begins, if the game is crossplay, and the best rated players in this video game.

Is a FIFA 24 on the way?

Not in the traditional sense. EA Sports FC 24 is the rebrand of FIFA. Consider it the new FIFA game, because that’s what it is. The historic partnership between FIFA and EA SPORTS came to an end in Q4 of 2022, with the surprise announcement of the breakup coming out around the launch of FIFA 23. Off the back of this rather sad news, EA confirmed they were launching a new title – EA SPORTS FC.

The mega game publisher stated that the newest release will be the same. FIFA 24 will be FC 24. What gamers expect to see in FIFA 24 will be present in FC 24. Consider the name change as part of the yearly updates that Electronic Arts does. Despite the above, FIFA also confirmed the launch of a new football game to be developed with third-party publishers and studios.

FIFA confirmed they will keep the franchise name going and plan to launch FIFA 24, FIFA 25, and FIFA 26 in the future. However, these will be entirely different games. FC 24 is a football simulation game, but the new FIFA titles will not be a simulation.

“I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

For now, the game everyone knows and loves as FIFA is FC. In the future when the two names are both individual games, there will likely be a bit of confusion. Keep in mind that EA has always developed the FIFA games, so the game with their developer title in the name is the one you’re likely thinking of.

Is the name ‘FIFA 24’ important?

Not to the gameplay, but people do not like change. The name of a game is essentially irrelevant, however, the game experience is vitally important. Many may not remember the days when PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) ruled the world of football with no player, league, or stadium licenses in sight. It did this off of pure developing genius. The game was an absolute delight to play for football fans.

Since those glory days, the FIFA franchise caught up but people only really switched because it offered the full package of excellent mechanics and gameplay, along with said licenses. Game modes such as Ultimate Edition (FUT), Career Mode, and more drew people to the franchise now known as EA FC. It has everything that FIFA had and more, just under a new name. The only thing missing is the World Cup and a few leagues that aren’t licensed.

FIFA 24 vs EA Sports FC

FIFA 24 will obviously have all the same players, team, and, stadium, and tournament licenses fans love but as EA Sports FC announced, so will they. EA Sports FC will have everything that the older FIFA games had and more. As for what any future FIFA titles will have, that remains to be seen at this point. The release date for FC is set, but FIFA 24 remains a mystery. Part of EA Sports FC’s advantage is that it’s a known commodity, and the new FIFA won’t be.

EA stated, “Alongside our 300+ license partners across the sport, we’re ready to take global football experiences to new heights, on behalf of all football fans around the world.” The FIFA franchise is continuing on consoles and gaming platforms with a new name.

They claimed that everything fans love from the current/ older FIFA games will be featured in EA Sports FC. You will also get the same modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs, and athletes. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and VOLTA Football will all be there. You can join the MLS, La Liga Santander, Ligue 1, Serie A, Premier League, Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, and more to play with icons and heroes of the pitch.
