Square Enix has announced that FFXIV Endwalker is delayed. The massively anticipated expansion to Shadowbringers is set back two weeks, while the developers work on making sure the game is at the best it can be for launch. The news comes after the developers published an infographic on Twitter, accompanied by a blog post on the game’s website, stating the new release date is now December 7.

Naoki Yoshida, the iconic producer behind the game stated the release of Endwalker was ‘down to the wire’. As the producer of the game, it was becoming ever so clear that the game’s polish was getting noticeably tougher to reach. Some of the big concerns were regards to the game’s stability. Yoshi said, “there was a bigger risk of us reaching the release date without ensuring stability as one form of quality,”  To put it short, the extra two weeks of polish makes will make the game better is essentially the gist of the post.

The other aspect of the game Yoshi mentioned was the server congestion. It’s no surprise that is a  big concern. FFXIV expansion launch dates are always congested. But, since the game’s gigantic growth over the summer, with many WoW streamers and players diving into Eorzea. It is safe to say Endwalker is going to be the biggest expansion in the game’s history.
