The Final Fantasy franchise uses various forms of romance, including true love, crush, love of a family, love of a nation, or slow-burn romance, to base the series on. While Final Fantasy 16 will have dark themes of combat, creatures, and devils in the quiet interval can see some romance peaking through. Plenty of mature themes exist in the latest installment of the Final Fantasy franchise, and many fans wonder if there will be any romantic themes. Will there be romance in Final Fantasy 16?
It’s clear producer Naoki Yoshida, and the creators were focused on crafting an action game, though some romance themes are a great way to come down from the thrill. While the main theme of the story of Clive Rosfield and his quest for revenge with the help of the Phoenix flames, we can see some romance scenes in the Final Fantasy 16 State of Play gameplay footage. So, while there will be romance, it will not take center stage.
This scene will occur between Barnabas Tharmr and Benedikta Harman; we can see some spicy time between the two. Though we are not expecting Final Fantasy 16 to show anything explicit, we can deduce that the two are somewhat lovers from this image.
Additionally, aside from Barnabas and Benedikta, both Cid and Benedikta were former allies in the realm of The Kingdom of Waloed. Where Benedikta took command of its elite intelligence, and Cid steadily rose to the ranks of the Royal Waloed Army. The character information about the two on the Square Enix website shows they have a past together. We will have to find out what past that is, though we’re sure it has plenty of nefarious plots.
In the same trailer, we can also see Clive and Jill have a quiet moment to themselves under starlight in Valisthea when they were younger. However, based on how the two interact as adults, after the tragedy with Joshua, it’s clear any sparks that might have been there are all gone.
