Final Fantasy XIV, the JRPG MMO that took the western world by storm in 2021 has some exciting news. The free trial that made that game accessible to many is now back after the huge server congestion that blocked the free trial in the first place. Players on the free trial version of the game, or those who still want to give the game a go can play it right now.
The Free Trial was suspended back in December when the Endwalker expansion launched. With the game’s surge in popularity, Endwalker became the game’s biggest expansion launch yet. Unfortunately, the queues were too massive, and the FFXIV free trial had to come to a temporary end to help mitigate the server demand. Since that is no longer an issue, the FFXIV free trial is back online on Feb 22, 2022.
If you’re new to the game and curious about what the FFXIV free trial gives you, you’ll be pleased to know quite a lot. Realm Reborn is the base version of the game after the original FFXIV launch was reworked. It allows players to play the game for free up to level 60 and complete the Realm Reborn story content. You’ll also get Heavenward, which is the first big expansion with a great story, end game features, and more.
This gives players over 100+ hours of content for absolutely free. You’ll also get to try a few different classes out in ARR, along with the Machinist, Dark Knight, and Astrologian classes if you fancied switching it up.
Once you complete the Heavensward patch content, aka the content that was released during the expansion’s life cycle, you will need to pay for the game. You can buy the latest expansion, and get access to all the other content. Buying the most recent expansion, especially the starter pack, also grants one month’s worth of subscription, so you can easily continue your adventures that way.
You can start your account and pay for expansion through the PlayStation, Steam, or through the PC launcher directly via the FFXIV Lodestone.
