Forspoken is coming next year, after several delays! It might have taken a while, but the Forspoken Release Date is coming.

But when is the game? And what do we know about it? We take a look at what we know, what you can expect from the game, and exactly what type of game it even is.
What Is the Forspoken Release Date?
Forspoken is currently scheduled to launch on January 24th, 2023. This follows several delays, with the game originally planned to be released on May 24th, 2022, then on October 11th, 2022.
Hopefully, this is the final release date for the game, though it’s always possible that the game gets delayed further along the line. The previous delays were so that the developers could polish the title as much as possible and make sure it felt good to play, and a delay is always preferable to a broken game at the end of the day.
The game will be launching on both PlayStation 5 and PC, forgoing Xbox platforms entirely for the time being. It’s unclear if the game is only a temporary console exclusive for PlayStation systems, or if it’ll be coming to other consoles later.
At Gamescom 2022 though we saw a new look at Forspoken gameplay, which you can see in the linked trailer.
When Will We See Forspoken Again?
We can likely expect to see more of the game later this year at The Game Awards, though there is the potential that PlayStation finally decide to do a PlayStation Showcase again. The last Forspoken trailer was absolutely roasted on Twitter though, so they may be reconsidering their marketing approach. The game is clearly entering into final polishing phases, and unless the game is delayed yet again we can expect it in our hands pretty damn soon.
What Is Forspoken?
Forspoken is an action RPG set in a world called Athia. You play Frey Holland, a woman from modern New York City, who must find a way to survive in this new world by using newfound magical powers. She’ll be played by Ella Balinska. Frey is able to use parkour to fluidly travel through the land of Athia and its landscapes, and the young new yorker can use her newfound magical abilities to defeat the monstrous creatures that she’ll come across along the way.

She’s got a whole host of magic powers on her side that will make her quest easier, with creatures attacking her from every single angle while you’re exploring the vast open world. Details on other characters remain scarce currently, though we do know that your sentient bracelet, Cuff, will play a large part in the game and that Athia is under the rule of the evil Tantas. We also know that one of the Tantas, Tanta Prov, will be played by Polly McIntosh from The Walking Dead.
There are various different bosses to face in the open world along with your standard enemies, so combat will always feel different and fresh. Within the next few months, we’ll probably be getting a lot of new gameplay for the game as the massive marketing machine that is Square Enix hypes itself up for the release of Forspoken.

Who Is Writing Forspoken?
The story itself is being written by Gary Whitta, who you may know as writing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Amy Hennig, who you may know from various different Naughty Dog titles, and Todd Stashwick. It’s being scored by a pretty big name too, with the composer of God Of War Ragnarok and The Lord Of The Rings: Rings Of Power, Bear McCreary, scoring the game alongside Garry Schyman.
