A change to Fortnite’s graphics engine means we can now do more than ever before in Chapter 3, Season 1: Flipped, and those 200 IQ players out there will be desperate to try killing opponents with falling tree damage.

Fortnite’s new Chapter brings more changes than ever before, especially having now moved to Unreal Engine 5. As seen in the Flipped overview trailer on Fortnite’s Youtube channel, these new and improved graphics allow for the likes of thrilling new dynamic weather events, and additional mechanics, such as sliding and swinging.

Falling tree damage in Fortnite

Fortnite fans will know there’s plenty of unwelcome ways you can take damage in game, be it falling from a great height, being eaten by a shark or blowing yourself up by mistake. Now, though, a new way of taking damage has been added to Fortnite, and that’s being hit by a falling tree trunk.

Thanks to the move to Unreal Engine 5, when players take down a tree now, instead of unrealistically evaporating into a cloud of bark, the trunk will actually break and fall over, crashing into anything in its path. Loopers included. Some players are not only using this new mechanic to damage and even kills opponents, but one Twitter user has shared how he managed to take the Victory Royale… with a tree.

As if Fortnite players needed any more unusual ways of taking down opponents.
