Albedo is a five-star Geo Sword character who specializes as a shield support and burst DPS. He first appeared in version 1.2 and hasn’t appeared on a banner since, despite being a fan favorite. Fortunately, Albedo is getting his first rerun banner during the first event banner of Genshin Impact 2.3, alongside Eula in a brand-new banner wish system. Keep reading to find out what materials are needed to Ascend Albedo, his best builds, and an overview of how to use him effectively.

Divining Scrolls, Sealed Scrolls and Forbidden Curse Scrolls can be obtained by defeating Samachurls, which can be found all over Teyvat.

Talent Materials

In order to make Albedo stronger, you’ll need to upgrade his talents. The materials you will need are as follows:

  • Divining Scroll
  • Sealed Scroll
  • Forbidden Curse Scroll
  • Teachings of Ballad
  • Guide to Ballad
  • Philosophies of Ballad
  • Tusk of Monoceros Caeli

The Teachings, Guide, and Philosophies of Ballad can be obtained by completing the Domain of Mastery: Realm of Slumber every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Tusk of Monoceros Caeli is a potential drop from the Weekly Boss Childe.

As for his talents themselves, it is recommended that you prioritize leveling up his Elemental Skill first if you want to focus on building Albedo as a support, as this is how you’ll be creating his shields. If you’d prefer to build him as a burst DPS, prioritize his Elemental Burst. Then either focus on his Elemental Burst or Elemental Skill, whilst leveling his Normal Attacks is the lowest priority.

Albedo Best Weapons

Albedo’s build is pretty straightforward since generally there are limited options as to what you can give him. That being said, his best weapons are actually not 5-stars, which makes him easy to build – particularly for low-level and F2P players. Here are his best weapons:

  • Harbinger of Dawn  (3*)
  • Festering Desire (4*)
  • Summit Shaper (5*)
  • Primordial Jade Cutter (5*)

His BiS is the Harbinger of Dawn, an easy-to-acquire three-star weapon that you’ll probably already own. Albedo mainly scales off his DEF, so the low Base ATK of the Harbinger of Dawn isn’t an issue. Harbinger of Dawn also gives a huge CRIT DMG and CRIT RATE boost, which will allow Albedo to deal consistently high DMG with his Elemental Skill.

Festering Desire is also perfect for him, giving him a large amount of Energy Recharge which will enable you to spam his Elemental Burst, while also boosting the DMG of his Skill and Burst. However, not everyone will have access to this weapon as it’s an event reward from version 1.2 and cannot be obtained any other way.

If you want to make your Albedo a little more hard-hitting, Summit Shaper is a great choice. It has a high Base ATK, ATK% substat, and ATK% bonuses as part of its passive. Not only that, but these passives benefit from being shielded, which just so happens to be Albedo’s specialty. Another five-star recommendation is the Primordial Jade Cutter, which gives a massive amount of CRIT Rate – perfect for a burst DPS build.

Albedo Best Artifacts

There are a couple of different Artifact sets and combinations you can use depending on what you want to get out of your Albedo. For a more supportive build, you can run 4-Piece Archaic Petra for maximum shielding and resistance. If you want your Albedo to pack a little more punch, 2-Piece Archaic Petra and 2-Piece Noblesse Oblige works well. If you want to lean fully into support, 4-Piece Tenacity of the Millelith will allow you to boost your team’s ATK whilst increasing their shield strength.

For low-level players, 2-Piece Defender’s Will with 2-Piece Gambler, Berserker, The Exile or Scholar works well on him until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.

For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:

Support:

  • DEF% Sands
  • Geo DMG Bonus Goblet
  • CRIT DMG / CRIT Rate Circlet

Burst DPS:

  • DEF% / ATK% Sands
  • Geo DMG Bonus Goblet
  • CRIT DMG/Rate Circlet

In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on DEF%, ATK%, Energy Recharge, and both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate. These substats are actually the same for both support and DPS builds, although a support build may favor DEF over CRIT stats and vice-versa.

How To Use Albedo in Genshin Impact

Albedo’s Elemental Skill, Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma, creates a Solar Isotoma which deals AoE Geo DMG upon hit by generating Transient Blossoms. This DMG scales off Albedo’s DEF, and when a character is located within the locus of the Solar Isotoma, a platform will be created which will lift the character into the air. If the Geo DMG inflicted by the Solar Isotoma Crystallizes with another Element, the active character will gain a shield – this is Albedo’s main source of utility and support.

His Elemental Burst, Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide, deals AoE Geo DMG in front of Albedo. If a Solar Isotoma is on the field, 7 Fatal Blossoms will be generated before bursting and dealing AoE Geo DMG.

To capitalize on Albedo’s off-field capabilities, it’s beneficial to pair him with a DPS character – any DPS character you have is a good choice. It’s also useful to pair Albedo with another Geo character in order to create Geo Resonance, which will increase the team’s shield strength by 15% as well as buff their resistances and DMG dealt. Characters such as Ningguang or a DPS Zhongli are good options, as well as the upcoming character Arataki Itto. An Anemo character is always useful to have as they’ll be able to gather enemies within Albedo’s Solar Isotoma’s AoE, so you could use Kazuha, Venti, or Sucrose.

For example, in a team consisting of Albedo, Ningguang, Ayaka, and Sucrose, you’ll first want to use Sucrose to gather your opponents together, then switch to Albedo and use his Elemental Skill underneath them. Then switch to Ayaka to deal as much DMG as possible, before switching to Albedo to use his Burst once it’s available and to reapply his Skill. You can switch back to Sucrose to gather up your opponents again if needed, and Ningguang can be switched in whenever to deal some additional DMG with her Normal Attacks, Skill, or Burst.
