Diluc is a 5-star Pyro Claymore character who specialises as a Pyro Main DPS and is available on the Character Event Wish and Wanderlust Invocation Standard Banners. Keep reading to find out what materials are needed to Ascend Diluc, his best builds and an overview of how to use him effectively.

Diluc Ascension Stat

All characters in Genshin Impact have a particular stat that levels up alongside their base stats. For Diluc, this extra stat is CRIT Rate. This makes him more flexible to build in terms of Artifact and Weapon substats.

Diluc Ascension Materials

Once you have obtained Diluc and maxed him to Level 20, he can be further levelled up through Ascension. The materials you will need to Ascend Diluc are as follows:

Level 20

  • Agnidus Agate Sliver x 1
  • Small Lamp Grass x 3
  • Recruit’s Insignia x 3

Level 40

  • Agnidus Agate Fragment x 3
  • Everflame Seed x 2
  • Small Lamp Grass x 10
  • Recruit’s Insignia x 15

Level 50

  • Agnidus Agate Fragment x 6
  • Everflame Seed x 4
  • Small Lamp Grass x 20
  • Sergeant’s Insignia x 12

Level 60

  • Agnidus Agate Chunk x 3
  • Everflame Seed x 8
  • Small Lamp Grass x 30
  • Sergeant’s Insignia x 18

Level 70

  • Agnidus Agate Chunk x 6
  • Everflame Seed x 12
  • Small Lamp Grass x 45
  • Lieutenant’s Insignia x 12

Level 80

  • Agnidus Agate Gemstone x 6
  • Everflame Seed x 20
  • Small Lamp Grass x 60
  • Lieutenant’s Insignia x 24

Agnidus Agate Slivers, Fragments, Chunks and Gemstones can be obtained by defeating the Pyro Regisvine, located in Liyue, and the Pyro Hypostasis, located in Inazuma.

Everflame Seed can be obtained by defeating the Pyro Regisvine, located in Liyue.

Small Lamp Grass can be found growing in Mondstadt. They grow in abundance in the Whispering Woods, Wolvendom and en route to Dadaupa Gorge.

Recruit’s Insignia, Sergeant’s Insignia and Lieutenant’s Insignia can be obtained by defeating Fatui Skirmisheres, Fatui Agents and Electro Cicin Mages, which can be found all over Teyvat.

Diluc Talent Materials

In order to make Diluc stronger, you’ll need to upgrade his talents. The materials you will need are as follows:

  • Recruit’s Insignia
  • Sergeant’s Insignia
  • Lieutenant’s Insignia
  • Teachings of Resistance
  • Guide to Resistance
  • Philosophies of Resistance
  • Dvalin’s Plume

The Teachings, Guide and Philosophies of Gold can be obtained by completing the Domain of Mastery: Frozen Abyss every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Meanwhile, Dvalin’s Plume is a potential drop from the Weekly Boss Stormterror.

Diluc Best Weapons

As a Main DPS, Diluc has a few solid weapon options:

  • Wolf’s Gravestone (5*)
  • The Unforged (5*)
  • Luxurious Sea-Lord (4*)
  • Serpent Spine (4*)
  • Blackcliff Slasher (4*)
  • Prototype Archaic (4*)

Wolf’s Gravestone is generally Diluc’s best in slot. It gives him a huge amount of ATK, on top of a passive that gives him even more ATK. The Unforged can be another good 5-star weapon for him, depending on if you use shield characters or not. That being said, The Unforged isn’t recommended over Wolf’s Gravestone (not unless you’re running Geo Resonance) – but if you have it, it won’t go amiss on him.

Diluc has some great 4-star weapon options, too. Serpent Spine will give him some CRIT Rate, which on top of the CRIT Rate he gains from Ascension will give him a solid amount overall. Alternatively, you could give him a Blackcliff Slasher for the 55.1% CRIT DMG at max Refinement. Diluc also benefits highly from a couple F2P weapons, Luxurious Sea-Lord and Prototype Archaic. Luxurious Sea-Lord has an ATK% substat, with a passive that boosts Elemental Burst DMG. Prototype Archaic also has an ATK% substat, and its passive creates a chance to deal AoE DMG after performing Normal and Charged Attacks. Both of these work great on Diluc, it just depends on what you’re able to get your hands on.

Diluc Best Artifacts

Diluc’s best Artifact set is 4-Piece Crimson Witch of Flames. Since the majority of his DMG comes from his Burst and infusing his Normal Attacks with Pyro, you’ll essentially be dealing constant Pyro DMG. Therefore, boosting his Pyro DMG with Elemental Reactions is a must – and 4-Piece Crimson Witch of Flames increases his Elemental Reaction DMG.

For low-level players, 2-Piece Martial artist and 2-Piece Berserker work well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.

For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:

  • ATK% Sands
  • Pyro DMG Bonus Goblet
  • CRIT DMG / Rate Circlet

In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on ATK%, Elemental Mastery and both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate. A little Energy Recharge won’t go amiss on him, but since his Burst has a low energy cost of 40, you should be able to charge this up passively without much investment.

How to Use Diluc

His Elemental Skill, Searing Onslaught, performs a forward slash that deals Pyro DMG. This skill can be used 3 times consecutively, and enters CD if not cast again within a short period.

His Elemental Burst, Dawn, releases intense flames to knock nearby enemies back, dealing Pyro DMG. The flames then converge into the weapon, summoning a Phoenix that flies forwards and deals massive Pyro DMG to all enemies in its path. The Phoenix explodes upon reaching its destination, causing a large amount of AoE Pyro DMG. Diluc’s Normal and Charged Attacks will be infused with Pyro for a time.

As mentioned previously, most of Diluc’s overall DMG comes from his Burst and the Pyro infusion it provides for his Normal and Charged Attacks. Therefore, Elemental Reactions will be a’plenty. You should pair him with a support who can provide off-field reactions – ideally Melt or Vaporize. Xingqiu, Kokomi, Mona and Kaeya are all great options. Your third slot is ideally another support who can increase Diluc’s DMG: Bennett is a safe option, with his boosts and heals. However, Yun Jin is also a viable option since she can boost Normal Attack DMG. Your fourth slot is flexible; you could use an Anemo character, a healer of your choice, or even a shielder.

In a team comp of Diluc, Kokomi, Yun Jin and Zhongli, you would be virtually invincible with the combination of Kokomi’s heals and Zhongli’s shield. On top of that, you would have Geo Resonance which increases Diluc’s DMG and shield strength by 15%. A rotation would look like this: use Zhongli’s Skill; use Kokomi’s Skill; use Yun Jin’s Burst; use Diluc’s Burst. In doing this, you ensure Diluc is protected, whilst also buffed thanks to Geo Resonance, on top of Kokomi’s skill which can prog Vaporize. Yun Jin’s Burst boosts Diluc’s Normal Attack DMG, and Diluc comes in to use his Burst, dealing huge Pyro DMG and infusing his Claymore to deal further Pyro DMG with his Normal Attacks.

A more conventional team comp is Diluc, Xingqiu, Bennett and Kazuha; you’ll use Kazuha to gather your enemies together, then switch to Bennet for his Burst, then Xingqiu for his Burst, and finally switch to Diluc to deal big Pyro DMG, rinse and repeat.
