Keqing is a 5-star Electro Sword character who specialises as an Electro or Physical Main DPS, and is available on the Character Event Wish and Wanderlust Invocation Standard Banners. Keep reading to find out what materials are needed to Ascend Keqing, her best builds and an overview of how to use her effectively.

Keqing Ascension Stat

All characters in Genshin Impact have a particular stat that levels up alongside their base stats. For Keqing, this extra stat is CRIT DMG. This will enable her to deal massive DMG, whilst also making her more flexible to build in terms of Weapon and Artifact substats.

Keqing Ascension Materials

Once you have obtained Keqing and maxed her to Level 20, she can be further levelled up through Ascension. The materials you will need to Ascend Keqing are as follows:

Level 20

  • Vajrada Amethyst Sliver x 1
  • Cor Lapis x 3
  • Whopperflower Nectar x 3

Level 40

  • Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x 3
  • Lightning Prism x 2
  • Cor Lapis x 10
  • Whopperflower Nectar x 15

Level 50

  • Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x 6
  • Lightning Prism x 4
  • Cor Lapis x 20
  • Shimmering Nectar x 12

Level 60

  • Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x 3
  • Lightning Prism x 8
  • Cor Lapis x 30
  • Shimmering Nectar x 18

Level 70

  • Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x 6
  • Lightning Prism x 12
  • Cor Lapis x 45
  • Energy Nectar x 12

Level 80

  • Vajrada Amethyst Gemstone x 6
  • Lightning Prism x 20
  • Cor Lapis x 60
  • Energy Nectar x 24

Vajrada Amethyst Slivers, Fragments, Chunks and Gemstones can be obtained by defeating Electro Hypostasis, located in Mondstadt, and the Thunder Manifistation, located in Inazuma.

Lightning Prisms can be obtained by defeating the Electro Hypostasis, located in Mondstadt.

Cor Lapis can be found across Liyue. They are mainly located on Mt. Hulao, the mountainous area between Tianqiu Valley and Cuijue Slope, and Guyun Stone Forest.

Whopperflower Nectar, Shimmering Nectar and Energy Nectar can be obtained by defeating Whopperflowers, which can be found all over Teyvat.

Keqing Talent Materials

In order to make Keqing stronger, you’ll need to upgrade her talents. The materials you will need are as follows:

  • Whopperflower Nectar
  • Shimmering Nectar
  • Energy Nectar
  • Teachings of Prosperity
  • Guide to Prosperity
  • Philosophies of Prosperity
  • Ring of Boreas

The Teachings, Guide and Philosophies of Resistance can be obtained by completing the Domain of Mastery: Altar of Flames every Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Ring of Boreas is a potential drop from the Weekly Boss Wolf of the North.

Keqing Best Weapons

Depending on what kind of build you’re looking to use, Keqing has a few good weapon options:

Electro DPS:

  • Mistsplitter Reforged (5*)
  • Primordial Jade Cutter (5*)
  • Black Sword (4*)
  • Lion’s Roar (4*)
  • Amenoma Kageuchi (4*)
  • Festering Desire (4*)
  • The Flute (4*)

Physical DPS:

  • Aquila Favonia (5*)
  • Primordial Jade Cutter (5*)
  • Black Sword (4*)
  • Amenoma Kageuchi (4*)
  • Prototype Rancour (4*)
  • The Flute (4*)

Electro Keqing’s best in slot is Mistsplitter Reforged. Not only will it give her a massive amount of CRIT DMG, but she can also make great use of its passive, too. Primordial Jade Cutter is also a solid option, giving her a tonne of CRIT Rate and a nice ATK bonus with its passive.

Electro Keqing has plenty of good 4-star options as well. The Black Sword will give her a good amount of CRIT Rate, and Lion’s Roar will give her plenty of ATK% and increase DMG against enemies affected by Electro. The Flute will also give her a great amount of ATK%. She can also make good use of the craftable Amenoma Kageuchi, and if you have it, Festering Desire can also work really well on her as it increases her Elemental Skill DMG and CRIT Rate.

Physical Keqing can make use of most of the same weapons, with a few exceptions. Aquila Favonia becomes her new best in slot, as it has a massive amount of ATK and a Physical DMG Bonus. She also favours Prototype Rancour as it will give her Physical DMG Bonus, and it has the added benefit of being craftable and therefore F2P.

Keqing Best Artifacts

Keqing has a couple different Artifact sets that work very well for her. One option is 2-Piece Thundering Fury and 2-Piece Gladiator’s Finale / Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, which will help to increase both her Electro DMG and overall ATK. Alternatively, 4-Piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence works very well on her, as it will boost her Normal and Charged Attacks after using her Elemental Skill, which pairs perfectly with her playstyle.

For a Physical Keqing, 2-Piece Pale Flame and 2-Piece Bloodstained Chivalry is a great option, as well as 4-Piece Bloodstained Chivalry or 4-Piece Pale Flame.

For low-level players, 2-Piece Berserker and 2-Piece Martial Artist or 4-Piece Martial Artist work well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.

For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:

  • ATK% Sands
  • Electro / Physical DMG Bonus Goblet
  • CRIT DMG/Rate Circlet

In terms of Artifact substats, for Electro Keqing you’ll want to focus on ATK%, Elemental Mastery, and both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate. You might also want some Energy Recharge on her for the 15% CRIT Rate boost she gets for a short time after casting her Burst – this is one of her passive Talents. Physical Keqing favours the same substats minus Elemental Mastery, as EM isn’t particularly useful on Physical units.

How to Use Keqing

Her Elemental Skill, Stellar Restoration, hurls a Lightning Stiletto that deals Electro DMG to enemies in a small AoE, and places a Stiletto Mark on the spot hit. On Hold, you can adjust the direction the Stiletto is thrown. If Keqing uses Stellar Restoration again or uses a Charged Attack while its duration lasts, it will clear the Stiletto Mark and produce different effects. One of her Passive Talents will make it so that when you activate Stellar Restoration a second time, it will imbue her Normal, Charged and Plunging Attacks with Electro for a period of time.

Her Elemental Burst, Starward Sword, unleashes the power of lightning, dealing Electro DMG in an AoE. She strikes a series of blows to nearby enemies simultaneously that deal multiple instances of Electro DMG. The final attack deals massive AoE Electro DMG.

Keqing, despite being a 5-star character and designed as a DPS, doesn’t do much raw DMG thanks to her overall poor DMG scaling. Therefore, pairing her with a good support is a must if you want to get the most out of her. That being said, for an Electro Keqing, you won’t want to pair her with a Pyro character as Overload will knock enemies out of her range – which will decrease your overall DPS. Instead, it’s recommended you pair her with Hydro or Cryo characters to trigger Electro-Charged or Superconduct reactions instead. Good options include Kaeya, Rosaria, Kokomi, Mona or Xingqiu. The other slots in your party are fairly flexible; you could add your go-to Anemo support, healer or shielder.

Unfortunately, Keqing’s Burst has objectively terrible scaling, and you’ll only deal a high amount of DMG on the final slash of her Burst rather than cumulatively. However, as previously mentioned her Burst is still useful for the CRIT Rate boost it bestows.

Physical Keqing will also need to be paired with a Cryo support in order to apply Superconduct, which decreases opponents’ Physical RES to increase her overall DPS. She also requires a slightly different play style to Electro Keqing: you can never activate Stellar Restoration a second time, as this will override her Normal and Charged Attacks with Electro and vastly decrease her Physical DMG output. Instead, her Skill will be used to inflict Electro on her opponents to apply Superconduct. Her Burst will also be used for this reason, as well as the CRIT Rate increase. Once again your other two slots are flexible, but an Anemo support is always a good idea.
