Xiangling is a 4-star Pyro Polearm character who specialises as a Burst DPS / Support, and is available on the Character Event Wish, Epitome Invocation and Wanderlust Invocation Standard Banners. She is also available to claim as a reward for completing Floor 3 Chamber 3 of Spiral Abyss. Keep reading to find out what materials are needed to Ascend Xiangling, her best builds and an overview of how to use her effectively.

Xiangling Ascension Stat

All characters in Genshin Impact have a particular stat that levels up alongside their base stats. For Xiangling, this extra stat is Elemental Mastery. This will help to increase the overall DMG of her Elemental Reactions.

Xiangling Ascension Materials

Once you have obtained Xiangling and maxed her to Level 20, she can be further levelled up through Ascension. The materials you will need to Ascend Xiangling are as follows:

Level 20

  • Agnidus Agate Sliver x 1
  • Jueyun Chili x 3
  • Slime Condensate x 3

Level 40

  • Agnidus Agate Fragment x 3
  • Everflame Seed x 2
  • Jueyun Chili x 10
  • Slime Condensate x 15

Level 50

  • Agnidus Agate Fragment x 6
  • Everflame Seed x 4
  • Jueyun Chili x 20
  • Slime Secretions x 12

Level 60

  • Agnidus Agate Chunk x 3
  • Everflame Seed x 8
  • Jueyun Chili x 30
  • Slime Secretions x 18

Level 70

  • Agnidus Agate Chunk x 6
  • Everflame Seed x 12
  • Jueyun Chili x 45
  • Slime Concentrate x 12

Level 80

  • Agnidus Agate Gemstone x 6
  • Everflame Seed x 20
  • Jueyun Chili x 60
  • Slime Concentrate x 24

Agnidus Agate Slivers, Fragments, Chunks and Gemstones can be obtained by defeating the Pyro Regisvine, located in Liyue, and the Pyro Hypostasis, located in Inazuma.

Everflame Seeds can be obtained by defeating the Pyro Regisvine, located in Liyue.

Jueyun Chilies can be found growing in Liyue. They grow in abundance in Qingce Village, north of Sal Terrae and Jueyun Karst.

Slime Condensate, Slime Secretions and Slime Concentrate can be obtained by defeating Slimes, which can be found all over Teyvat.

Xiangling Talent Materials

In order to make Xiangling stronger, you’ll need to upgrade her talents. The materials you will need are as follows:

  • Slime Condensate
  • Slime Secretions
  • Slime Concentrate
  • Teachings of Diligence
  • Guide to Diligence
  • Philosophies of Diligence
  • Dvalin’s Claw

The Teachings, Guide and Philosophies of Diligence can be obtained by completing the Domain of Mastery: Heart of the Flames every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Meanwhile, Dvalin’s Claw is a potential drop from the Weekly Stormterror Challenge.

Xiangling Best Weapons

Xiangling has lots of great weapons she can use, which makes her very accessible to build. Here are some suggestions:

  • Engulfing Lightning (5*)
  • Skyward Spine (5*)
  • Staff of Homa (5*)
  • Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (5*)
  • Dragon’s Bane (4*)
  • “The Catch” (4*)
  • Favonius Lance (4*)
  • Wavebreaker’s Fin (4*)
  • Deathmatch (4*)

Xiangling’s best in slot is Engulfing Lightning. It gives her a massive amount of Energy Recharge, which is key since her Burst is the most important part of her kit. The passive also works very well on her, especially when paired with the 4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate Artifact set, which will be touched on momentarily. If you don’t have Engulfing Lightning, Skyward Spine also works well on her thanks to its Energy Recharge substat. If you want to boost her CRIT stats, both Staff of Homa and Primordial Jade Winged-Spear are great on her.

She has some great 4-star weapon options, too. If you want to give Xiangling more Elemental Mastery for her Reactions, Dragon’s Bane is very nice on her. Xiangling can also make use of one of the best F2P weapons in the game, “The Catch.” It has a huge Energy Recharge substat that’s nearly on par with Engulfing Lightning. Furthermore, it increases both her Elemental Burst DMG and CRIT Rate, and at high Refinement this is a very decent amount. Alternatively, the Favonius Lance will also give her a good amount of Energy Recharge for her Burst, and its passive will give her or another member of your team Particles to charge up their Bursts upon a CRIT hit. Wavebreaker’s Fin can also work well on Xiangling, as it increases her Elemental Burst DMG and gives her plenty of ATK. If your Xiangling could use some more CRIT Rate, she can make good use of Deathmatch.

Xiangling Best Artifacts

Because Xiangling needs such high Energy Recharge to keep her Burst up, 4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate works very nicely on her; it increases both her Energy Recharge and her Elemental Burst DMG based on her overall Energy Recharge. This is especially potent when paired with a weapon with an Energy Recharge substat. If you don’t have any good Emblem of Severed Fate Artifacts or are yet to farm them, 4-Piece Crimson Witch of Flames is also nice on her, although it generally doesn’t work as well as 4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate.

For low-level players, 4-Piece Instructor works well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.

For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:

  • ATK% / Energy Recharge / Elemental Mastery Sands
  • Pyro DMG Bonus Goblet
  • CRIT DMG / Rate Circlet

Your Sands’ main stat largely depends on what your Xiangling is lacking in, or which Sands has the best substats. In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on ATK%, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery and both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate

How to Use Xiangling

Her Elemental Skill, Guoba Attack, summons Guoba who continuously breathes fire at nearby enemies, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.

Her Elemental Burst, Pyronado, sends a Pyronado whirling around her. The Pyronado will move with your character for as long as the ability persists, dealing Pyro DMG to all enemies in its path.

Xiangling works best as a Pyro Burst DPS / Support, thanks to her Elemental Burst which deals high DMG and persists while Xiangling is off-field. This means that her Burst can trigger Elemental Reactions while a different character is on-field. For this reason, she works great on Melt and Vaporize team comps; for example, she synergises well with Ganyu or Ayaka for Melt, and she works nicely with Tartaglia or Mona for Vaporize.

She also works extremely well on team comps alongside Bennett. Since her Burst snapshots, this means that when activating her Burst inside Bennett’s Burst, Xiangling’s Burst will get boosted and you’ll be able to switch her out to your Main DPS. Pairing her alongside Bennett will also activate Pyro Resonance, which increases your whole party’s ATK by 25%. A powerful team comp that features these two, known as the “National Team,” includes, Xiangling, Bennett, Xingqiu and Chongyun. She also plays a key part in the “International Team” team comp, made up of Xiangling, Bennett, Tartaglia and Kazuha. In both these teams, Xiangling serves as an off-field DPS, using her Burst to proc different reactions and deal high DMG.

Overall, Xiangling is a fantastic addition to any team with a Cryo or Hydro Main DPS – and since she’s available free to all players, she’s absolutely worth building up.
