Yun Jin Best Weapons

As a Support, Yun Jin has several solid weapon options. Here are some suggestions:

WeaponRarity
Engulfing Lightning5-star
Skyward Spine5-star
Favonius Lance4-star
The Catch4-star
Deathmatch4-star
Genshin Impact Yun Jin Weapon

Yun Jin can make decent use of both Engulfing Lightning and Skyward Spine. Both have Energy Recharge substats, which will help her to charge us her Burst, which is a key part of her kit. However, Engulfing Lightning is generally more useful on other characters, so you may not want to use it on Yun Jin. Alternatively, you could use the 4-star Favonius Lance which also has a hefty Energy Recharge substat, and a passive which will generate Energy particles with her CRIT hits. The Catch also has a good Energy Recharge substat, and is also F2P-friendly. Deathmatch can also be a viable option, thanks to its passive which increases DEF, and its CRIT Rate passive is an added bonus. However, the Favonius Lance is generally the best 4-star support option.

Yun Jin Best Artifacts

Yun Jin has a couple different Artifact sets you can use on her, depending on what you feel she needs more. Generally, 4-Piece Husk of Opulent Dreams is her best set, as it will give her plenty of DEF to scale off of. However, if you find that you don’t have enough Energy Recharge on her to use her Burst on cooldown, 2-Piece Husk of Opulent Dreams and 2-Piece Embelm of Severed Fate can also work. This combination will both increase her DEF, whilst also giving her a nice amount of Energy Recharge.

For low-level players, 2-Piece The Exile and 2-Piece Defender’s Will works well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.

Genshin Impact Yun Jin Artifacts

For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:

  • DEF% / Energy Recharge Sands
  • DEF% Goblet
  • DEF% / CRIT Rate Circlet

You’ll really only want to put a CRIT Rate Circlet on Yun Jin if you’re using her with the Favonius Lance, as this will help her proc the passive more regularly. In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on DEF%, Flat DEF, Energy Recharge, and some CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate.

How to Use Yun Jin

Her Elemental Skill, Opening Flourish, has two effects based on whether the Skill is pressed or help. On press, Yun Jin flourishes her polearm in a cloud-grasping stance, dealing Geo DMG. On hold, she takes up the Opening Flourish stance and charges up, forming a shield. DMG Absorption is based on Yun Jin’s Max HP and has 150% effectiveness against all Elemental DMG and Physical DMG. The shield lasts until she finishes unleashing her Elemental Skill.

When the skill is released, when its duration ends, or when the shield breaks, Yun Jin will unleash the charged energy as an attack, dealing Geo DMG. Based on the time spent charging, it will either unleash an attack at Charge Level 1 or Level 2.

Her Elemental Burst, Cliffbreaker’s Banner, deals AoE Geo DMG and grants all nearby party members a Flying Cloud Flag Formation. Flying Cloud Flag Formation makes it so when Normal Attack DMG is dealt to opponents, Bonus DMG will be dealt based on Yun Jin’s current DEF.

The effects of this skill will be cleared after a set duration or after being triggered a specific number of times. When one Normal Attack hits multiple opponents, the effect is triggered multiple times according to the number of opponents hit. The number of times that the effect is triggered is counted independently for each member of the party with Flying Cloud Flag Formation.

Yun Jin’s kit makes her lean heavily towards being a Normal Attack buffer – and she does a good job of it. So long as you stack as much DEF on her as possible, she’ll be buffing your characters by a very good amount. However, there are only a few characters who actually utilise their Normal Attacks when dealing their DMG; most characters either rely on their Charged Attacks, which Yun Jin’s buff doesn’t apply to, or their Skill / Burst. This makes Yun Jin quite a niche support.

Best Team Comps

So, what characters can Yun Jin work with? One of her best team comps consists of Yun Jin, Yoimiya, Zhongli and Bennett. Since Yoimiya deals the majority of her DMG through her Normal Attacks, Yun Jin pairs up very nicely with her. Zhongli will help to protect Yoimiya and trigger Geo Resonance, further increasing Yoimiya’s DMG, and Bennett will increase the team’s ATK and heal them. Alternatively, Bennett can be swapped for Xingqiu for the Vaporize reactions.

She can also work well with Ayato, who also heavily relies on using Normal Attacks. A potential team comp for this pairing is Yun Jin, Ayato, and two Electro characters.

Overall, while niche, Yun Jin can help increase the DMG of characters who otherwise might struggle to deal consistent high DMG, such as Yoimiya. And, seeing as she’s only a 4-star character, she’s quite accessible and easy to build.
