At Tokyo Game Show 2021 Online, Capcom bought a pack of announcements related to the world of Monster Hunter Rise, including some special celebration events designed to spotlight famous Japanese video game brands and their collaborations with the game.

After reminding everyone about the recent Mega Man & Rush crossover event, a trailer announced that Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins (or Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts, depending on which Nintendo you ask) hero Arthur will return to the Monster Hunter franchise for another guest appearance.

When will the Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins x  Monster Hunter Rise collaboration happen?

Arthur will cross over into Monster Hunter Rise on October 29, 2021, and will bring unique hunt rewards with him. These MonHun collaboration events don’t often become a permanent fixture in the games and do eventually go away, so you’ll want to play the event and grab the commemorative armor and weapon unlocks as soon as possible.

The Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts series has always been a staple of the Capcom roster, despite the series’ often brutal difficulty. Arthur’s appearance in Monster Hunter Rise is based on his look from the latest series entry Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrections, which was released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC earlier this year.

When will Sonic the Hedgehog be in Monster Hunter Rise?

Also announced at TGS 2021 was the return of Sonic the Hedgehog to Monster Hunter in a new collaboration. The Blue Blur from South Island has been mostly celebrating his 30th anniversary with a series of re-releases and guest appearances, so this somehow isn’t all that surprising.

There’s no word on when Sonic the Hedgehog’s appearance in Monster Hunter will happen, or even what form it will actually take. Last time Sonic crossed over into Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, it took the form of a Palico Cat that looked a bit like he was wearing the speedster’s pelt as a onesie.

We hope that this time … well, it is nothing like that. Just give us the shoes, please.
