343 Studios has made a return to Halo 3 like combat with the recent launch of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, with many praising how the game’s multiplayer feels. The game has brought back plenty of deployable gadgets you get from its arcade shooter design, making each map contestable and interesting. The maps have random spawn items, making each playthrough of the maps even more interesting.

One of the new powerups you can get in Halo Infinite is the Grapplshot, which allows Spartans to grapple around the map, zooming around the map to get to new vantage spots flank players or close in for the kill. Here we teach you how to grapple in Halo Infinite. Also, we will give you some tips on how to use it best, so you can use this to your advantage every step of the way.

How to grapple in Halo Infinite

If you want to go round the Halo Infinite world grappling your way around like a heavily armored green spiderman, then you’ll need to acquire a Grappleshot. You can find them in some of the various powerup spanners across the maps. Though maps do have a degree of variance in what they spawn, they may be hard to come across. If they are about, you’ll simply need to walk up to it. You can tell it is a Grappleshot when you see the grapple’s hook, followed by a puff of smoke behind it. Alternatively, killing players drops their active power-up ability when they fall in battle.

When you get your hands on a Grappleshot, you will then need to aim at a relatively distant surface and use your power-up key. For PC players, the default key is Q. As for controller users, you’ll find it is RB. If the surface you are grappling to is too far away, it will retract, and you’ll keep the Grappleround. If you manage to land the Grappleshot, you’ll consume the charge and fly over to the target location.

Grappleshot Tips

The Grappleshot allows players to fly around the map to their target location. There are quite a few mechanics to this. Firstly, you’ll want to know that the Grappleshot can fly to an enemy. This means you can close the gap, allowing you to assassinate someone with a back melee attack. It’s like that meme with AJ Styles against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, except with more Halo. The other idea you can have is to use the zipline and charge at someone with a shotgun pickup if you have one of them.

The other important thing about the Halo Infinite Grappleshot is that the gadget has some level of acceleration and physics. Think of this like Apex Legends, if you’re familiar with that game. Pathfinder’s character can use grapple shots to bounce around the map, sliding, or hitting it ledged to leapfrog even more distance. Simply aim at the point you want to leap over, such as a wall edge, cliff edge or a floor. If you’re planning on leapfrogging the floor, remember to hold crouch while running to combat slide and get that extra edge. Doing this will get you into new spots, such as flanking the enemy well or running away from a  fight you can’t win.

And there you have it. You now know how to grapple in Halo Infinite effectively. Good luck out there, Spartan.
