343 Studios has surprisingly announced a whole new Halo Infinite playlist update is coming. On December 14, players will be able to jump into the Halo Infinite playlist update, dusting off their BR’s for a game of SWAT. Moreso, the new playlist will also add in other game modes, like FFA, Fiesta, and Slayer.

343 Studios revealed over on the Halo Infinite Reddit board that SWAt is coming to Halo Infinite. On December 14, there will be a whole new playlist coming, adding in Halo Infinite’s SWAT mode, along with Fiesta, Tactical Swat and FFA. The new playlist will come a little early, ready for the holidays; however, it is nowhere near as much content as 343 hoped.

In the official 343 statement on Reddit, one 343 developer had this to say: “As I noted last week, the team’s original plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren’t going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break. To address player feedback for Slayer in the near term, we’ll be releasing a basic Slayer offering to start and will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update.”

Meanwhile, there is going to be a slight challenge overhaul, removing some very annoying mode-specific challenges. The overhaul will the weekly challenge less exhausting, making it easy to grind those weekly rewards, like the Abbey Lime S7 skin. In theory, the Abbey Lime might be the last tedious weekly reward to unlock.

The news comes after a week of complaints directed at the 343 team about the lack of playlists and a war on the microtransaction store. SWAT is by far one of the most popular Halo game modes to ever exist. Since the game spawned from a popular Halo 3 custom game mode, Bungie picked up on it and added it in. It was an officially supported game mode by the time Reach came around. It is one of the reasons fans were disappointed not to see it arrive at the launch of the multiplayer beta or official release.

While the Halo Infinite SWAT game mode is late, players will no doubt be happy this mode is coming. The other three modes coming was the cherry on top, even if there are more unannounced slayer modes on their way in the near future. For the unannounced projects, you’ll likely have to wait for official announcements in January, courtesy of the wording in the official Reddit announcement.
