The Dying Lands is the sixth main quest in Horizon Forbidden West. In this quest, Aloy is on a mission to find MINERVA in order to save GAIA and must travel to Plainsong and receive the Utaru tribe’s permission. Player level 15 or above is recommended before you attempt to complete this quest since it involves a boss fight.

How to Complete ‘The Dying Lands’ quest

Here’s a quick walkthrough for the quest The Dying Lands.

  1. Travel to Plainsong, which is the home of the Utaru tribe. It is north of Stone’s Echo. Here you will find Zo and Varl. They will take you to the Chorus where you can complete side quests and buy new outfits from merchants. After returning to Zo and Varl, the Cordon is attacked by Apex Variant machines.
  2. Follow Zo to the Cordon. You won’t have to fight the machines until prompted by the game. Use heavy weapons and set up traps to defeat these machines.
  3. Now travel to the Sacred Cave. Upon reaching the TAU, be prepared to be attacked by Leaplashers. They are weak to Purgewater attacks.

  1. Keep going ahead to the Repair Bay Core by solving puzzles. You will need to step on pressure plates and fire at the gears. You can jump on a flying machine that will take you to the Main Cauldron Chamber. Here, craft supplies and set traps to prepare for the oncoming fight.
  2. Now you will face the Grimhorn in a boss fight. The Grimhorn is a difficult machine to kill since it is equipped with powerful weapons and attacks with fire. However, it is most vulnerable to Purgewater and Acid, so ensure you have the right weapons ready. Try to fire at the Cluster Launcher, which can be detached and used as a weapon against the Grimhorn.
  3. After defeating the Grimhorn, override the Repair Bay Core. Now you’ll dominate new machine species like the Plowhorn and Bristleback.

Completing the sixth quest The Dying Lands successfully will unlock 7,500 XP, two skill points, and 1 Utaru Whisperer as rewards. It’s an important quest to complete and sets you on the path to the next quest, The Eye of the Earth.
