The Promontory is a side quest in Horizon Forbidden West that is unlocked when you reach Plainsong. Talking to Bree activates the quest and the recommended character level for completing the quest is 17. Chorus’ newest member Kalae is missing and it looks like she may have died after undertaking a dangerous pilgrimage to The Promontory. Her husband wants you to find answers in order to put his mind to rest.

How to Complete The Promontory in Horizon Forbidden West

After talking to Bree and starting the quest, go to the base of the Promontory which will be marked on your map once the quest commences. As soon as you reach the area, you will have to deal with some machines and examine nearby surroundings for clues. Follow the mysterious trail until you reach the corpse of Bree’s wife. Kalae was killed by a stranger, whose corpse is also nearby. At this point, Aloy will want to find the killer and she takes back the Seed Pouch from the killer’s body to Bree.

The killer seems to be Kel, who went to a nearby settlement called Summerwind. Once you talk to Bree, head to Summerwind to find Kel. As you arrive, talk to Kel to find out why she got Kalae killed. Kel reveals that Kalae wanted to leave Plainsong and move somewhere else. Kel did not want others to leave as well. Out of contempt, Kel ordered one of her men to kill Kalae in order to keep the Plainsong community together. But she deeply regrets her decision and does not attack Aloy.

Before Bree arrives, Kel kills herself by eating poisonous berries. It looks like Kel’s grief consumed her and after a brief cutscene, the quest ends. After the quest ends, Aloy will receive 4,250 XP, two skill points and the Utaru Protector face paint.
