To The Brink is one of the main quests in Horizon Forbidden West. It is immediately unlocked after completing The Point of the Lance. This quest has a recommended player level of 5 and is one of the easier quests in the game. In this quest, Aloy encounters dangerous new machines as she tries to enter the Embassy on the border of Carja Sundom.
How to Complete the To The Brink Quest
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to complete the To The Brink quest.
- The quest starts with a cutscene where Studious Vuadis, Aloy must now head to Chainscrape but make sure to search the area and loot any valuables you find. Once you’re in Chainscrape, travel up the ramp to find a workbench where you can upgrade your bow. Here you can also speak to Petra to unlock a side quest.
- Now it’s time to find Erend – follow a Bristleback down a path until you reach a ruin. Here you’ll see an Oseram Trapper, but it’s surrounded by Scroungers you must kill. The best way to do this is to set traps and launch attacks with Frost Damage. Speak to the Oseram, and use Focus (R3) to uncover tracks. Follow them till you find Erend, and kill the two Acid Bristlebacks and Scroungers. You can best do this by luring them to the center and dropping the suspended logs on them and then shooting their Acid Canisters with Acid Arrows.
- Aloy must now clear the Daunt of Machines. Travel northwest where you’ll find Acid Bristlebacks – use your Shock Tripcaster to defeat them and any other reinforcements. You can also trigger an explosion by targetting Blaze Canisters. Make sure to loot the area once you’re done.
- Go back to Chainscrape and speak to Vuadis, and then force Ulvund to sound the whistle. Vuadis will now be on his way to Barren Light, which will end the quest.
Successfully completing the To The Brink quest gives the player 2,500 XP and two skill points. The next main quest unlocked is The Embassy.
