There is plenty of combat that you will take place in when you hop into Diablo 4. Everywhere you turn, creatures will attack you. Luckily, you have classes like the barbarian, necromancer, and druid at your disposal.

Ranged characters in Diablo 4 can be a bit tedious to play. This is because they need to aim at every enemy when basic attacking. Needing to turn your character will get old after a while when using a bow or casting spells.

Luckily, there is a way to make combat a bit easier and take the strain of aiming away. This guide will show you how to auto-attack in Diablo 4.

How to turn on auto attack in Diablo 4

As stated above, using two-handed weapons that are ranged can be a bit annoying, especially when dealing with hordes of foes. To alleviate this issue, you can turn on auto attack. Auto attacking can be enabled almost immediately in Diablo 4 by going to the Menu.

Start by bringing up the in-game menu. After that, go over to the accessibility tab. Scroll down to the control section of the menu. Activate the option labeled persist auto lock by left-clicking your mouse or pressing the interaction button on controller.

As you can see, the auto attack is very easy to turn on with a few simple clicks. By default, the option will be turned off but, once on, will allow you to auto attack with different weapons. This option is much better for those using ranged attacks than melee attacks.

Here is a list of tasks required to turn on auto attack in Diablo 4:

  • Boot up the game
  • Go to the in-game menu
  • Navigate to the accessibility tab
  • Locate the persist auto lock option
  • Activate the persist auto lock option

What is auto attack in Diablo 4?

The auto attack feature in Diablo 4 is a feature that will automatically make your character target foes. Auto attack isn’t exactly what it sounds like. Activating this option won’t simply make your character attack different foes or activate their barbarian skills. It also won’t change your hotbar around.

You will still need to keep right-clicking or pulling the trigger to attack. This feature will just alleviate the stress of needing to turn your character constantly to attack foes.

One downside to this feature is that your character will automatically target any enemy in your vicinity. That means if you are trying to get somewhere to find unique items and happen across an enemy, your character will focus on them until you force them not to.

Of course, you can always switch the option back off by going back into the menu.
