Ranrok shows there with Miriam’s wand and casts a spell of destruction that blows the repository wide. You trip and collapse after Fig appears to be killed by falling debris. The conflict with Ranrok starts down a little slope.

The Repository’s strength enables him to change into a dragon. There are different phases to the combat, and because magical orbs surround Ranrok throughout each phase, you won’t be able to directly reduce his health.

Use Auto-Lock

Just in case your spells are missing, it might be a good idea to enable auto-lock.

Attack only when the Health Bar is showing

Don’t bother trying to hit the dragon when the health bars not showing, it will not affect the overall health bar of Ranrok. Instead, only hit the dragon when the health bar is visible.

To get the health bar to reappear, you need to hit the different colored orbs beside it with a spell of the matching color. In the meantime, dodge its attacks as much as you can.

Use Ancient Magic when Ranrok is charging up

The Ranrok Dragon has one AOE attack with remarkable explosive power, enough to one-shot the player in one attack if your are not prepared.

So, to combat this, save your Ancient Magic for when the dragon is charging up this attack in order to block the effects of it.

Heal between phases of Ranrok Dragon boss fight

With every phase change, the Ranrok Dragon will move to the next spot. When there’s a lull in the action, recover to full HP before leaving the previous destination.

Best spells for defeating Ranrok Dragon

As mentioned above, you need to match the spells to the colored orbs. Therefore, it’s best that you come to the fight already equipped with a Control, Force, and Damage spell. This way you won’t cycle through spells to match the color. Here are the spells we recommend for their versatility:

Ranrok Dragon Phases & Attack Patterns

There are three phases in the final boss fight of the Ranrok Dragon. They each have separate attack patterns which mix up blockable and unblockable moves. They are as follows:

Phase One

Dragon Breath (Unblockable) – This is a flame attack that will track the player.
Projectile (Unblockable) – A dark-colored ranged attack. You can redirect these projectiles back at the dragon with Ancient Magic Throw.
Fireball (Blockable) – This one is a light-colored ranged attack. You can block these.

Phase Two

Explosion (Unblockable) – This is the AOE we spoke about earlier. Use Ancient Magic here.

Phase Three

Close-range attacks (Unblockable) – The dragon will land on the ground in the third phase. It will run at you to bite and swipe at you.
