Showcased early on in the trailers for the game, the dropkick is a staple of the Dead Island series and is great for getting zombies away from you. Of course, there is a downside of the recoil but that is hardly noticeable when zombies are flying away from you.

If you want to break up a group of zombies, the dropkick is one of the best tools you have at your disposal. In Dead Island 2, the dropkick can be deadly when upgraded and mixed with elemental tools.

How to use the dropkick in Dead Island 2

You don’t start off with the dropkick ability in Dead Island 2. Instead, you have access to the flying kick ability.

Where to obtain dropkick in Dead Island 2

To unlock the dropkick, you need to progress through the game to the point where you are nearly done with the Halperin Hotel section of the game. After defeating a powerful zombie in the area, you will unlock the dropkick ability.

To select which kick you want to use, go into your skills menu. Once there, you will see a row of blue cards at the top called ability cards. The second card from the left is what determines your kick ability. Select that card and you can switch between the flying kick and dropkick.

To perform a dropkick or flying kick, jump into the air and press the E key on PC or click in the right stick if you are on PlayStation or Xbox. This will cause your character to kick forward. Remember, these kicks are best for smaller zombies and not brutes.

How to upgrade the dropkick in Dead Island 2

You can upgrade the dropkick and flying kick later on in the game. As part of leveling up and finding abilities around the world, you will unlock various survivor and slayer abilities that can alter the kicks. These abilities can add elemental damage to the kicks or just increase the damage by a specific percentage. You can apply these abilities by adding the survivor or slayer card to your hand in the skills menu.

How to slide in Dead Island 2

Sliding will help you get around in Dead Island 2 and also help you escape the grasp of some of the zombies. You can also perform devastating slide attacks that can throw enemies off their feet. To perform a slide, you simply need to run by pressing the Shift Key if you are on PC or the Left Stick if you are on console. While you are running, press the CTRL Key on PC or hold the circle or B button on PlayStation or Xbox. This will allow you to slide. During your slide, you can swing or shoot a weapon to help you take out zombies at the knees.
