How to Dye Armor in Final Fantasy XIV

While playing Final Fantasy, you will acquire various gear and armor. However, you might want to stand out by dying your gear the right color. Of course, by now, you will have acquired the ability to Cast Glamour. Thankfully, there is a way to brighten and color your armor. So follow this guide to learn how to dye armor in Final Fantasy XIV.

Final Fantasy XIV – How to dye your armor

This is how to dye armor in Final Fantasy XIV:

• First, Press P to enter your Actions and Traits menu
• Then, select the Dye Action, and an Item Dying box will appear. 
• From here, you can choose the item you want to Dye. 

Now in the Dye Menu, you can see which items can be dyed and which cannot by looking at the small round icon on the top right corner of your gears icon. Next, you can select the equipped gear you want to dye by picking one of the common dyes. Finally, you can select Dye once you have chosen your preferred color.

You can also purchase special dyes and pigments from Dyemongers. They are as follows below:

• Alaric – Old Gridania
• Nananbe – Ul’dah – Steps of Thal
• Unsynrael – Limsa Lominsa Lower Deck
• Frine – The Pillars
• Tokohana – Kugane 

Note that Dye can only be used once per item; thankfully, you can go to one of the local Dyemonger for your next color change.

How to unlock Dyes in Final Fantasy XIV

To unlock dyes, you must again visit Swyrgeim to complete the Color Your World quest. However, before you go, you must bring her Orange Juice. There are several merchants you can buy this from. Below you can find a list of all merchants and Vendors that sells Orange Juice for 7 Gil.

• Alehouse Wench – Central Thanalan (The Coffer and Coffin) 
• Gerulf – Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks
• Merchant and Mender – Western Thanalan 
• Katherin – Ul’dah – Steps of Thal

Now that you have purchased your Orange Juice go to Vesper Bay in Western Thanalan to start the Color Your World quest. Once there, interact with Swyrgeim; after this, you can enter your inventory to hand over the item. 

Once you give her the Orange Juice, she will reward you with 3x Rose Pink Dye, 3x Bone White Dye, and 3x Ice Blue Dye and unlock the Dye ability.
