Here’s how you can evolve your newly caught Inkay into Malamar in Pokémon Go! Inkay is a recent addition to the game, as our new squid-friend was added to the game as part of the Psychic Spectacular, a Season of Mischief event.

The Gen 6 Pokémon was a welcome addition as many players recall just how unique and fun this Pokémon and its evolution were. The little squid confounded players as Pokémon trainers around the world couldn’t figure out how to evolve it into Malamar.

Much to the delight – and undoubtedly relief – of players, the method in which to evolve Inkay into Malamar was eventually discovered. An unconventional method but a great and fun one nonetheless!

Players had to turn their 3DS consoles upside down when their Inkay levelled up past level 30, only then would the squid go from the ‘revolving Pokémon’ to the ‘overturning Pokémon’.
