During Professor Onai’s Assignment in Hogwarts Legacy, you’re tasked with tracking down troll bogeys. They are also a critical ingredient when crafting Invisibility Potions. These nasty ingredients aren’t the easiest to find; so if you’re struggling, or just want a guide, here how to find Troll Bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy.

We’ll be taking a look at Troll Bogeys location, but also the easiest way to get troll bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy and progress through Professor Onai’s Assignment to unlock the Descendo Spell.

How to find Troll Bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy

There’s two places that hold the location of Troll Bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy, but you best be prepared for this first one.

Troll Lair locations close to Hogwarts

You’ll need to fight and defeat a troll to get troll bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy. When a troll dies, it drops troll bogeys on the ground as loot you can pick up.

Trolls can be found at Troll Lairs scattered across the regions around Hogwarts. Troll Lairs are represented by a mountain peak icon on the in-game Hogwarts Legacy map. Not all mountain icons are Troll Lairs though, which can make tracking them down a bit trickier.

We’ve prepared a list of all the known Troll locations so far, just to help you on your way to finding Troll Bogeys:

• North of Feldcroft in the western region of the Hogwarts Legacy map

• West of Feldcroft in the western region of the Hogwarts Legacy map

• West of the Poidsear Castle Floo Flame in the southern area of the Hogwarts Legacy map

Alternatively, there is also one to be found at the North side of Medium Bandit Camp in the South Sea Bog region. This is bordering on a little too far away from Hogwarts if you want to stick around the school for now.

Troll Lair locations further afield

Aside from the Troll Lairs we’ve spotted around the world close to Hogwarts castle itself, there seems to be some Troll Lairs located further south in the Hogwarts Legacy world. Here are some more reported Troll Lair locations marked on the world map if you’re looking to get your hands on as many Troll Bogeys as you can. We wouldn’t recommend straying further away from what you’re familiar with though if you’re still getting to grips with the game early on.

Buy Troll Bogeys at J. Pippins Potions

If you’re up for a far simpler task, and you’ve got the Galleons to spend, maybe buy Troll Bogeys instead. You can spend your hard-earned Galleons and buy troll bogeys at J. Pippins Potions in Hogsmeade.

Each troll bogey will set you back 100 Galleons. You lose out on the pleasure of finding and fighting a troll, but buying troll bogeys ticks off the assignment requirement much faster.

Easiest way to get Troll Bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy

Buying Troll Bogeys at J. Pippins Potions in Hogsmeade is probably the easiest and most convenient way of getting Troll Bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite that, the added cost is less than ideal, so it’s much more efficient to go out and collect them while you’re exploring the world. Make sure you check out all the Troll Liars close to you if you want to be more resourceful.

Battling the Trolls out in the world also benefits your overall progression and helps you level up your character naturally while you’re at it. Heading to a Troll Lair will more than likely net you a higher quantity of Troll Bogeys – without having to spend your hard-earned Galleons.
