Just as in the movies and the books, you can be sorted into houses in Hogwarts Legacy, so here’s how to get sorted to the house of your choice in Hogwarts Legacy! Using the infamously powerful and mysterious Sorting Hat, players can be placed into the four houses.

The four Hogwarts houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Gryffindors are brave , Slytherins are ambitious, Ravenclaws are intelligent, and Hufflepuffs are trustworthy.

Let’s take a look at how to get sorted in Hogwarts Legacy, and how to choose a specific house.

How to get sorted in Hogwarts Legacy

Soon after the start of the game, you’ll arrive at Hogwarts just in time for the Sorting Ceremony. There are two different ways you can be sorted into your house.

You can either take a very short in-game quiz, or you can link your Harry Potter Fan Club and WB Games accounts for a more personal house selection. Whichever method you decide to use, you can influence the Sorting Hat’s decision.

Take the longer sorting hat quiz

Get the most personalized sorting by setting up your Wizarding World account and completing the Wand and House ceremony. But you might be asking, why do all this when you can simply pick your preferred House in-game? Well, the Sorting Hat Quiz also allows you to choose your preferred Patronus and Wand, along with the House you desire.

The Sorting Hat here will end up asking you the core questions that set apart each House, such as what you value most in life and which traits are stronger in your personality. You’ll also be quizzed on the type of Wand you deserve, allowing you to choose the Wand of your choice if you answer correctly.

Nevertheless, once you’re done, here’s what you need to do to import the Wand and House in Hogwarts Legacy:

  1. Go to the Warner Bros website and login/sign up for an account.
  1. Next, head into Connections and connect the Harry Potter fan club account with your Warner Bros account.

Bear in mind that this procedure won’t work if you’ve already completed the Sorting Hat ceremony in-game. However, if you haven’t touched the game yet, this neat little trick should allow you both the Wand and the House of your choice!

How does sorting work in Hogwarts Legacy?

Once you arrive to the Sorting Ceremony after the tutorial, you’ll sit at the front of the Great Hall, and Professor Weasley will place the Sorting Hat atop your head.

From here, you’ll be given two prompts where you must make a choice.

First, the Sorting Hat says, “You come here with preferences and preconceptions — certain expectations.”

  • “I can’t wait to start classes.”
  • “I can’t wait to explore.”

Your answer here will not affect your house selection at all, so feel free to choose either option.

Can I change my house in Hogwarts Legacy?

If you’re not happy with the house you’ve been first sorted into by the Sorting Hat, there’s not much reason to worry. You can choose whichever house you’d like to join after the fact, as you’ll be given a second chance to choose your house – this is your final answer.

On the other hand, once you’ve made your choice for good – there’s no turning back. That’s why it’s a good idea to choose wisely. There isn’t too much difference in gameplay between each house, but it’s nice to represent the right one for you. Hogwarts Legacy comes with four character slots, so you can create a character for each house if you wish and experience Hogwarts from the point of view of all houses.

What if you have done Sorting Hat Quiz before Hogwarts Legacy?

If you have linked your accounts, you won’t get this choice, since you will have done the quiz already. Instead, you’ll only be given the “start classes”/”explore” question. This will not make a decision on a particular house.

If you’re not happy with the house you’ve been sorted into based on the quiz, you’re still given one more chance to select a house in-game.

This decision is final, so make sure you’re happy with it before continuing!
