A universe full of exploration, trading, and combat awaits players in Cloud Imperium Games’ title, Star Citizen. If you’re just beginning your journey as a daring pilot, there’s a lot of systems to get used to and it can be a bit overwhelming. Are you getting stuck trying to get out of the Area 18 Landing Zone hangar? No worries, that’s what we’re here for. Here’s how to leave the hangar in Star Citizen.

How to get out of the hangar in Star Citizen

Once you know how to do it, getting out of the hangar is pretty simple. First, you’ll need to summon your chosen ship from the vehicle retrieval terminal. It will give you a list of your ships to choose from, and you can hit retrieve once you’ve chosen. Some ships are not retrievable, because they’ve been destroyed, so you can claim them instead.

Once you’ve chosen the ship to retrieve, this will give you a hangar number, and you will want to then navigate over to that hangar. Simply go the hangar elevators and select the corresponding number Once you’re there, get inside your ship and then follow these steps to open the hangar doors:

  • Hit F11 to bring up the communication app on the mobiGlas
  • Go to the friends tab on the top left corner of the AR interface
  • The first option will show Area 18 Landing Services, click the arrow button under it
  • This will let ATC acknowledge you and the hangar gates will open

This allows you to leave the Area 18 Landing Zone and make your way out into the open universe.

Where is the hangar in Star Citizen?

The hangars will be in the Riker Memorial Spaceport, to the side of the main three zones in Area 18. You can take the tram system that runs through the commercial port to reach it.
