If you have been playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, odds are you have made your way to Depths. This dark area of Hyrule is shrouded in permanent darkness that makes traversing it very difficult.

When you go to the underground area, you will want to bring some light. After all, you can’t be saving Hyrule if you are lost in the darkness. This guide will show you how to light up the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to permanently light up the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Just like how there are towers on the surface of Hyrule that reveal the map, there is a permanent way to light up the Depths. When you jump down through one of the chasms or caves that leads to the depths, be on the lookout for large root structures called Lightroots.

Lightroots are similar to Shrines but without the puzzles. They have a symbol for the Ultrahand on them. When you interact with a Lightroot, it will give you a short cutscene that shows it shining before lighting up the spot you are at and the surrounding area.

Lightroots also count as fast travel points in the Depths and can be used at any time to travel the underground section of the map.

How to see in the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

There are other methods of seeing in the Depths. After all, you need to find your way to the Lightroots to activate them. If you want to see in the Depths, you will want Brightbloom Seeds. These seeds can be found in caves around Hyrule.

To use a Brightbloom Seed, ready your bow with the ZR Button. While holding your bow, press up on the D-Pad. Use the Right Stick to select the Brightbloom Seeds. Attach the Brightbloom Seed to your arrow and shoot it at a wall. It will light up a small amount of the Depths for a short time so you can find your way around.

You can also attach Brightbloom Seeds to your weapon but this is less effective and will need to constantly be re-attached. Unfortunately, no matter how you choose to light up the Depths, you won’t be able to rid it of the Gloom that is sprinkled around.
