Many of the quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley will have you crafting food to give to various residents of the valley. The Pride of the Valley update added Nala and Simba to the list of residents, but if you want to unlock them, you first need to complete a few quests. One of these quests is called Eyes in the Dark and it requires you to make a Bug Platter so Nala can enjoy some of the food from Simba’s past. Start gathering those gubs. Here is how you make a Bug Platter in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to cook a Bug Platter in Disney Dreamlight Valley
After entering the Lion King realm, you will start the quest called Eyes in the Dark. There are many steps to this quest that will lead you all across the realm and back to the valley. One of the biggest quest steps is collecting bugs so that you can make a Bug Platter. There are three different types of bugs for you to collect; Red, Colorful, and Slimy. Each type is found in a different part of the realm so keep your eyes peeled.
Starting with Colorful Bugs. These are found in the dried-up oasis. This is the section of the realm where you meet Nala for the first time. Head to this part of the jungle and use your shovel to dig up the bugs in the dig locations. Next are the Slimy Bugs. These can be found by fishing them out of the river in the central part of the jungle where Simba gives you the quest step. Each bug is marked by an orange node in the water.

Last is the Red Bugs. Red Bugs can be a bit tricky to get since you need to chase them down. Go to the farthest part of the jungle where you meet Simba and use your shovel to remove the tree stumps. After a few attempts, the Red Bugs will spring out of a stump and start running. Chase the bugs down and collect them.
With all of the bugs obtained, bring them to a cooking station in the valley to craft three Bug Platters. This is the only time you will be able to craft Bug Platters since the recipe is specific to this quest. Once you have the Bug Platters made, bring them to Nala to continue the quest.
