Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 allows you to choose from a great number of weapons. These weapons can be further customized using attachments. From Muzzles to Barrels, the game lets you change it all. In this guide, we will explain how to unlock attachments in MW2 so you can customize your weapons to make them more powerful.
How can I unlock attachments in MW2?
First, you need to know that there are two different types of attachments in MW2; Platform Specific and Universal. The first one is limited to specific weapons, while Universal attachments can be applied to any weapon. Barrels, Magazines, Stocks, and Rear Grips are Platform Specific attachments, while Muzzles, Underbarrels, Ammunition, Laser, and Optics are Universal attachments.
To unlock attachments in MW2, you will need to level up your new weapons all the way up to level 20. The level of your weapon increases as you gain more XP. While the primary method of gaining XP is by killing enemies, you can also acquire tons of it by completing objectives. Furthermore, if you want to level up weapons quickly in MW2, we suggest you play Invasion, which allows you to kill bots to gain XP.
It is important to remember that while some attachments are weapon-specific, others can be used with any weapon. For instance, after you unlock the CX Pineapple Grip by taking the 556 Icarus to level 14, you can use the Grip with any weapon and not just with the one you used to unlock it. This means your goal should be to level up as many weapons as possible. Once unlocked, you can go to the gunsmith and equip the attachments to improve the recoil control, aim down-sight speed, and more.
MW2 players previously faced an issue related to attachments on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. No matter how hard they tried, they were unable to unlock attachments.
