Dead Island 2 is the high-anticipated sequel to the original Dead Island game that was released back in 2011. After over a decade, fans will finally be able to go on zombie-killing rampages across the city of L.A. Many details have already been revealed about the game and tons of people are looking to start playing it when it releases. One of the biggest questions, however, is if the game will be on older-generation consoles. Is Dead Island 2 next-gen only?
Will Dead Island 2 be on last-gen consoles?
Plenty of games nowadays have been released on older generation consoles while everything gets shifted to the new generation. There are still plenty of people playing games on the PS4 and Xbox One so it is important to know if games will be coming to those consoles. There are three different versions of Dead Island 2 that you can purchase; standard, deluxe, and gold. Each one offers different bonuses depending on the price you pay.
The starting price for Dead Island 2 is $69.99 or €69.99. Luckily, no matter what version of the game you get, you will be able to play it on PS4 and Xbox One. Each version of the game comes with both the last-gen and next-gen copies. Therefore, those who purchase the game on PlayStation will get both the PS5 and PS4 copies. This is great for those who have both systems or maybe want to share the game with a friend who is still on the last-gen console.

Unfortunately, when the game releases, it won’t have crossplay so you won’t be able to play online with friends who are on other consoles. There are plenty of other questions that have been asked about the game such as what the multiplayer will be like and if it will be Steam Deck compatible.
