The wait is nearly over for the Resident Evil 4 remake – which is set to arrive this week.

The game, which we know will not be on Gamepass, stays true to the 2005 original and brings back the third-person view-point, after the series opted for the first-person perspective for Resident Evil: Village.

Resident Evil 4 Remake has been confirmed for a number of consoles and PC, but will it be coming to Xbox One? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is Resident Evil 4 Remake coming to Xbox One?

The short answer is no. Capcom is not bringing the latest Resident Evil game to the last generation of Xbox consoles, but it will be arriving for both the flagship Xbox Series X and the small but might Xbox Series S.

To make matters more confusing, the game is coming out for the PS4 – and some retailers are reportedly advertising that the game is coming to Xbox One.

According to Reddit, and this does need to be verified, a copy of the game with the original Xbox One packaging was spotted in a store – despite the fact Capcom confirmed the game will not be arriving on the console.

The Chainsaw Demo, which is available to play now, cannot be played on the older Xbox either.

This is confirmed by the official Xbox store, which clearly states the game is only compatible with the Xbox Series X and S consoles. It’s also made clear on the Capcom website, where the Xbox One logo does not appear – although in our opinion, this could have been made even clearer.

So, there you have it. You can’t play Resident Evil 4 Remake on Xbox One, but if you have a PS4 or Xbox Series X and S, you’ll be able to enjoy the game.
