Sons of the Forest has had some setbacks in terms of release dates and technical errors, according to developers. The anticipation for this sequel to the highly popular original ‘The Forest’ only grew bigger over time. Let’s investigate whether survival horror can be enjoyed on multiple platforms, or even cross-platform.

Now we’re past that and Sons of the Forest is in Early Access, this sequel is shaping up to be an exciting new multiplayer for many to enjoy across the board. However, to make full use of that multiplayer action, is Sons of the Forest cross-platform & crossplay?
Is Sons of the Forest cross-platform?
From what we know currently, the early access will not be coming to PS4, PS5, or even Xbox. It is currently only available on PC via Steam.
This means that whilst it’s possible that post early access we might see launches on multiple platforms, we cannot be sure right now with anything confirmed.

Is Sons of the Forest crossplay?
Unfortunately, as it stands, Sons of the Forest is not cross-platform or crossplay. This is how it’s going to be during the Early Access stage of the game’s release.
Endnight Games’ predecessor joined consoles back in 2018, but the ability to play between different systems has never been implemented. We can only hope, as more and more titles begin to facilitate this.

Whether or not the game will release to the console remains up for debate. We’ll be in early access for 6-8 months according to developers, so this news might still be far off.
