No this isn’t a cross-over between two of the largest fantasy worlds but this is the biggest question in the minds of fans of the Zelda franchise at the moment. Will the Triforce will be in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

With The Master Sword being destroyed and shattered in the promotional material released for this game, we are eager to see if this sequel will contain the legendary Triforce return or if that has been shattered too.

Will the Triforce make a return in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Although there is no official confirmation that the Triforce will appear in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom yet it has appeared in other games such as Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.

Throughout the Zelda series, the Triforce is referenced as both a physical relic and also a power within certain characters. This relic was destroyed before the events of Breath of the Wild, allowing Calamity Ganon to cause chaos across Hyrule. However, any game that contains, Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf then technically contains all the theoretical pieces of the Triforce as it is assumed that each of these characters carries and represents a different part of the Triforce:

  • Link – Courage
  • Zelda – Wisdom
  • Ganondorf – Power

Within the Zelda game series, the Triforce has played a central role in the continued plot. The three portions of the Triforce are used as moral symbols within the game. The trinity within the Triforce creates balance in the Kingdom of Hyrule, with evil seeking power, while wisdom and courage are the opposing forces for good.

Could the Triforce return?

With gameplay teasers and trailers containing an evil even beyond Ganon, theories are floating around Reddit and other sites that the Tears of the Kingdom title is a reference to the pieces of the Triforce itself after the destruction of Calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild.

The theories suggest that with the possible return of Demise, perhaps all three of our main characters and heroes will have to come together to defeat him. This would be a fun addition to Zelda lore, keeping parts of the Legend of Zelda timeline organised. This could be the possible last reincarnation of Ganondorf as he is a part of Demise.

Along with this, the main character art released by Nintendo for Zelda does contain a small emblem of the Triforce on her chest, along with Link’s tunic containing a Master Sword design. Could these be hints that these magical relics are still around?

For the sake of Hyrule and all its inhabitants, with the Mater Sword missing or broken, we hope that the Triforce has returned its power to the land in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to help save everyone from evils worse than Ganondorf, The Demon King Demise.
