The Legend of Zelda Franchise dates all the way back to the first even Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. Even since the first Zelda game, the franchise has been seen as one of the staple Nintendo products up there with Pokemon and Mario.
However, many fans are beginning to wonder if Zelda and Link have overstayed their welcome. How many games can you release before it becomes stale? Let’s go over if Zelda TOTK will be the last Zelda game to come out.
Is Zelda TOKT Going To Be The Last Zelda Game?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will most likely not be the last Zelda game we ever see. The franchise is too powerful for this to be the ending of it. However, it might be the last Zelda game we see in this version of Hyrule.
The Zelda franchise is known for jumping around in the timeline and it leads the games to be very confusing. So much crazy stuff has gone on in the timeline of Zelda that the franchise has three different timelines happening at once.
With so many options for stories to continue, there is no way that they will end Zelda games with TOTK. But we might see a jump back to the Toon Link style of games as our next entry or maybe we will go back to Kid Link once more.
Even if we don’t receive another mainline Zelda game, we should still expect to see spinoffs from the Zelda franchise for years to come.
Maybe Nintendo will follow in Capcoms footsteps and start remaking all of the original Zelda games in a new updated 3d format. Playing through the original Legend of Zelda but in a fully 3d world could be quite interesting.
Regardless of where the Zelda franchise goes from here, you do still need to be worried if TOTK will be the last game for the Switch.
