In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you play Cal Kestis, a Jedi survivor of the Great Jedi Purge. In a galaxy ruled by the evil Galactic Empire, Cal must use his lightsaber and Force powers to survive. A major part of the game involves combat, which is challenging for beginners.

Here are some beginner combat tips to help you become a skilled Jedi survivor.

All Combat Controls in Jedi: Survivor

Before we dive into specific combat techniques, let’s go over the basic combat controls in Jedi: Survivor.

  • Regular attack – Press Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox)
  • Force Attack – Press Triangle (PlayStation) or Y (Xbox)
  • Force push – Tap R2 (PlayStation) or RT (Xbox)
    • Group Force Push Hold R2 (PlayStation) or RT (Xbox)
  • Force Pull – Hold L2 (PlayStation) or LT (Xbox)
  • Block – Hold L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox)
  • Deflect – Tap L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) when the projectile is close
  • Evade / Roll – Tap O (PlayStation) or B (Xbox) and a direction on Left Analogue Stick
  • Parry – Tap L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) just before a melee attack

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – How to Block

When you hold down the L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) button, Cal will raise his lightsaber to block incoming attacks. Blocking can prevent damage, but it also consumes stamina.

Be careful not to exhaust your stamina, as you won’t be able to block until it recovers. You can also upgrade your blocking abilities through the skill tree.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – How to Deflect

Deflecting is similar to blocking but requires precise timing. When you see a projectile, such as a blaster bolt, coming towards you, tap the L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) button at the right moment to deflect it back at the enemy. Deflecting can be challenging, but it’s an effective way to deal damage and conserve Force energy.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – How to Roll / Evade

Evading is a useful technique for avoiding attacks and getting out of harm’s way. To roll or evade, tap the O (PlayStation) or B (Xbox) button and a direction on the Left Analog Stick. You can evade at any time, but it’s worth timing out.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – How to Parry

Parrying is an advanced technique that requires precise timing. When an enemy is about to hit you with a melee attack, tap the L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) button just before the attack lands to parry it. Parrying can open up enemies to counterattacks and deal significant damage.

Can you Kick in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

You can’t kick Jedi: Survivor by default, and we haven’t seen it in the game.
