Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, a Yakuza spin-off from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios received a new trailer at the Summer Games Fest 2023, which showed off new story cutscenes and plenty of gameplay footage.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is next Yakuza game

The game is rumored to be releasing in November 2023 according to a leak on the PlayStation store, although this is not official. What is official is the game will be on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

The game is reportedly going to connect Yakuza 6 to the upcoming Like A Dragon 8, however, not much information has been given about the title since it was announced in September of 2022. We do know that Kazuma Kiryu is returning to the series as a playable character, even though he’s supposedly done with Yakuza.

The title focuses on a legendary ex-Yakuza who left the mob to protect his family, but now a mysterious figure is trying to push him out of hiding. The game will feature a rich story and combat from the Yakuza series that made the series so popular.

We are happy to see our friend return, but this does not appear to be a sequel, as Kiryu looks a lot younger than in Like A Dragon. However, this is speculation, and this very well may be something to do with Lost Judgement or the Like a Dragon series. We will have to wait to find out more.

More information will be given as the game nears its release date. What we hope to see soon is more information on why Kiryu has returned and if he will reference events that happened in Yakuza 6 and if he’s coming back to the old organization.
