If you have completed all of the Level 1 Guardian Raids available in Lost Ark as part of your end game grind, you will likely be preparing yourself to take on the fifth unlockable Guardian Raid – Chromanium. This guide contains everything you need to know about Lost Ark’s Chromanium boss and tips on how to beat him.

Guardian Raids can be completed solo or with up to 3 other players, the battle is scaled for the number of players present. Everyone in your party will need to be item level 460+ to enter though. If you want company, you can use the find party or matchmaking features to group up. Although, most classes can solo these raids.

Lost Ark Chromanium Guardian Raid Mechanics and Tactics

Firstly, we will give you a few general tips for the Lost Ark Chromanium fight. Plenty of these tips are fairly useful for other Guardian raid bosses, so keep these in mind when you are trying to progress through a lot of the content.

  • Destruction and Bombs – You will want to hit Chromanium with destruction abilities and bombs or whirlwind grenades in order to destroy his heavily armoured shell. As a result, you will remove some of his physical damage reduction.
  • Ground and pound – After destroying Chromanium’s armour, you will want to focus on knocking him to the ground using impairment abilities. Whilst he is on the ground, the party will do increased damage but this will be much reduced if he still has his armour.
  • Three phases – Chromanium will transition from phase 1 to 2 when he has been knocked down and stood back up. He will transition from phase 2 to 3 when he has reached 25% HP remaining, this phase is obvious as his eyes and shell begin to glow bright red. Each time the next phase is about to begin, Chromanium will burrow underground and reappear somewhere else on the map. Flares are useful for quickly locating any Guardian.
  • Chromanium is weak to fire damage.
  • Due to the bosses large armor, we recommend getting a Gunlancer or an Artillerist in your party that wants to spec into armor reduction debuffs to help make the fight easier.

Phase 1

  • Side Slam – Chromanium raises one side of his body and slams down. Because he only attacks from one side of his body, the best way to avoid this is to move behind him.
  • Purple Orb – Chromanium will glow purple and begin forming an orb of the same colour in his shell cannon before firing it into the arena. The orb will begin chasing a member of the party, stunning and damaging on contact, it moves quite slowly though.
  • Four Orbs – Four red orbs will spawn around Chromanium with an AOE field around each of them, they slow and damage on contact but are easy to avoid.
  • Cone Breath – Chromanium will begin sucking air into his mouth, before breathing out an icy cone that has a massive range.
  • Barrage – This ability is channelled in a similar way to the purple orb, however, both the orb and Chromanium will glow red this time. The orb will then split in the air and red indicator circles will appear on the ground. This can be quite difficult to dodge, so do your best to get behind him.
  • Mortar – Similar to the previous ability, however, this time the attack will target a member of the party. The impact will cover a much wider area than the barrage and do a lot more damage.

Phase 2 – Including all of the phase 1 abilities

  • Leap/Double Leap – Chromanium moves his front legs out to the side indicating he is about to leap forward in a line, dealing AOE damage around the area he lands. He will sometimes leap twice in quick succession. He can also chain this ability and leap multiple times.
  • Body Slam – Chromanium straightens his front legs and the ground beneath his feet begins to rumble. He then jumps and slams down dealing massive damage underneath him.
  • Double Slam – Similar to the last ability, Chromanium straightens his front legs moving them closer together. However, this time the ground will not rumble. He will again jump and slam down. This time the AOE effect will be doubled and the damage is still huge, make sure to keep your distance.

Phase 3 – Including all of the previous abilities with some changes.

  • Mortar Upgrade – The orb now remains in the area for a while after impact and deals AOE damage.
  • Four Orbs Upgrade – Very similar to the phase 1 version of this ability. This time getting caught in the AEO of the orbs will move you closer to the centre whilst still damaging and slowing.
