Choosing the right team for Minecrafts Legends 4v4 tower defense mode is important and essential for victory, but how do you switch teams if you are not happy with your current team. Switching teams is very simple, however there are limitations to when you can switch teams.

How to Change Teams in Minecraft Legends

To switch teams in Minecraft Legends, you need to open the team selection menu. Luckily, this is as easy as the press of a button. Depending on your platform, you need to press the right key. They are as follows:

Xbox

Press the Y button to open the team selection menu on Xbox.

Playstation

Press the triangle button to open the team selection menu on PlayStation.

Nintendo Switch

Press the X button to open the team selection menu on the Nintendo Switch.

PC

Press the Y Key to open the team selection menu on PC.

Once you open the menu, you can then select your preferred team and press enter to make your decision. Just note that you can only change teams while in the lobby. If the game has started, you’re going to have to wait for the session to end. So choose your team wisely or be ready to create another session if you picked the wrong team.

Team Switch Limitations in Minecraft Legends

Note that you cannot switch teams in Minecraft Legends public mode because the game is responsible for automatically balancing teams. This can be a hassle if you’re looking to team up with certain friends. However, if you have a friend on the other team and the teams have an unequal number of players, the game will try to group you together with your friend. While not the best solution, it can still sometimes give desirable results.

One method of manipulating public matchmaking is to let your friend join a public lobby first. After this, you wait for your friend’s team to have fewer members and then join. This ensures that you end up on the same team as your friends.

On the other hand, you can freely change teams in private matches and PvP lobbies. This can help balance teams to stop the competition from feeling too one-sided.

That’s all you need to know about switching teams in Minecraft. While being a one-button option is nice, we’d still like to swap teams in the middle of games. Hopefully, we get some future updates that make this feature even easier to use.
