Skeletons are a type of hostile mob that fires arrows at you. Skeletons spawn in light levels of seven or below, which implies they can spawn at night, in dark tunnels, or in the sea. Skeletons will monitor players from a distance of sixteen blocks away, and when they notice you, they will draw their bows and fire arrows at you. Depending on the difficulty level, their arrows are more precise or less accurate. They burn in the sun and seek refuge in the shade of trees, clifftops, or bodies of water. Skeletons that spawn underwater will instead attack you with a sword.

Approaching them might be risky, especially if you’re just getting started. Almost all skeletons will spawn with a bow and arrows to shoot at you, although underwater skeletons will spawn with a sword to melee attack you. Knowing how skeletons act will make it easier to dismantle them.

Where do Skeletons spawn in Minecraft?

Skeletons will spawn whenever the light level is seven or below in the overworld. This implies they can spawn at any time of day or night, in caverns or in the water. Skeletons can even appear in the underworld, replacing wither skeletons on occasion. Skeletons can also be found in the nether’s soul sand valleys. The stray skeleton is another type of skeleton that might appear in chilly biomes. Strays will shoot sluggish arrows at you with torn garments and an echoing clatter. Strays are more harmful since they might slow you down. It may be tough to close the distance on these adversaries due to their ranged attacks.

How do they behave?

Skeletons will monitor players from a distance of sixteen blocks. You can see the skeletons preparing their bows to launch arrows at you after they have aggroed onto a person. Depending on the difficulty level, their arrows are more precise or less accurate. Skeletons will run after players if they get out of range in the Java edition. Skeletons in the Bedrock version will fire their arrows quicker if the player approaches them. Approaching skeletons might be tough due to their range advantage and increased speed

Skeletons will burn in the sun and seek the shade of trees or clifftops to prevent being completely charred. They will seek water as well; they cannot swim, but they do not drown. Some skeletons will spawn wearing armor, and if they have a helmet, they will be resistant to sun burning and will trail the player until the aggro range is exhausted. When they wear a skeleton skull, their aggro range is decreased in half, bringing their effective range down to eight blocks.
