How to craft Fermented Spider Eyes in Minecraft
To craft a fermented spider eye, you need the following in your inventory for your crafting table:
- One spider eye
- One unit of sugar
- One brown mushroom

To get spider eyes, you need to farm spiders. Unlike items such as string, the drop rate for spider eyes is much lower but you should not have too much trouble getting them.
How to get sugar in Minecraft
Sugar can be acquired by farming sugarcane. Simply put sugarcane in the crafting menu and you will be able to turn it into sugar.
Where to find brown mushrooms in Minecraft
Do note that only brown mushrooms work and other variants of mushrooms do not work.
In case you do not have any brown mushrooms, try looking in dark oak biomes, swamps, and dark caves which are usually laden with mushrooms. Basically, head for shady areas and you will find some brown mushrooms soon enough. If you simply cannot find any, then Nether biomes are usually overrun with this particular fungus.
Once you have all the ingredients, place them in the crafting grid in any arrangement.
What potions can you make with Fermented Spider Eye?
- Potion of Harming: Fermented Spider Eye + Potion of Healing/Poison
- Potion of Invisibility: Fermented Spider Eye + Potion of Night Vision gives you three minutes of invisibility at basic level
(Note to make a Potion of Night Vision you need Nether Wart, a golden carrot, and a water bottle) - Potion of Weakness: Fermented Spider Eye + Water Bottles – This causes mobs to hit you with less damage (reduced by 1, or by 4 in Java edition)
- Potion of Slowness: Fermented Spider Eye + Potion of Swiftness/Leaping – this splash potion will slow your enemies down by a minumum of 15% at its lowest enchantment level.
(Note: Potion of Swiftness is made with Netherwart, Sugar, and a water bottle. Potion of Leaping can be made with Netherwart, a Rabbit’s Foot, and a water bottle.
We recommend brewing all of the potions as they can be very fun to play with. If you love alchemy and the creation of potions in Minecraft, we recommend getting as many fermented spider eyes as possible. Most potent poison brewing requires netherwart, gunpowder, glow stones, and fermented spider eyes. You also get a small number of experience points as well.

How to make a brewing stand in Minecraft
To cook up any of the above potions in Minecraft you are going to need a brewing stand in your inventory. To knock one of these up you will need the following.
- 3 x Cobblestone
- 1 x Blaze Rod
Now cobblestone is in plentiful supply but the Blaze Rod is going to be a little tricker to get your blocky hands on.

To get hold of a Blaze Rod you will need to venture into the Nether and defeat some Blazes. The rod should drop easily after that. Once you have one, hit up your crafting table and place three cobbletone on the botoom row and the Blaze Rod directly above in the center.
If you don’t wish to venture into the nether you will occasionally find Brewing Stands in Village Churches or Igloos, so if there are any in the vicinity right now, that may well turn out that looting here will be a quicker way to start your home brewing empire.

The best way to speed up the process is to set up a spider farm – yes, that sounds delightful doesn’t it. Basically set up a location where you can keep them trapped and they will breed more spiders so you can sustainably kill a few off and hopefully increase your chances of harvesting an eye or two.
Spider spawners in mineshafts and caves are also handy to know the location of as you can always pop back, chop a few up and collect their eyeballs whenever it is time to start brewing your next batch.
